Yo - thanks for clicking.

I did some programming with Game Maker back in the day (before yoyogames took over) and thought it would be cool to use a simple game making engine to create lessons for my classroom. Problem is, I think I'm a little over my head. I thought of the simplest game to make and it's proving to be a little difficult trying to understand the UI of RPGM Ace. I'm literally at the point where I'm willing to pay someone to teach me how to use it! I think if I could deliver this in a classroom, it would have a significant impact.

My main question is what sort of tutorials should I download to see how the program works? I learn best by seeing how others do it, problem is, there are A LOT of tutorials out there. Any of your favorites that got you started quick?

Also, if you're interested, these are the specs of my game :

OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME :

-To survive the trial by battle or trial by ordeal

-Main map is a location where player gets to choose which event to do.

-Collect the most gold possible (by surviving - +1 gold every time a successful event is completed).


HOW DOES THIS OCCUR :


Trial by Battle

-Player has a random chance to face 6 different opponents. Opponent is chosen by chance


Trial by Ordeal (multiple different maps / mini-games)

P:

•Multiple guards chase the player.

•Player is safe once they reach the other side/location/castle/tent.


G:

•Speed of guards is chosen by chance.

•Guards approach player.

•Once guards have collided with player (event), game is over for player (-1 health).


>>>Burning at the stake!

P:

•Player has to survive being burnt at the stake by pressing a series of buttons quickly… if (for example) 5 series are not completed, the player burns up and looses.

G:

•Difficulty is chosen by chance

•Player has to input a series of buttons (numbers 1 to 5 for example) in a random order. The quicker the tasks are completed, the better chances for survival.

•Random inventory event – have someone from the crowd toss water at a press of a “save-me” button.

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
