I've been mulling my initial concept for my project (NEW FAIRY TALE, soon to be renamed) and I don't know where to go with it. I'm going to let you decide.
---
BEAR IN MIND the world in which the game is parallel to ours and what is fairy tale in our world is history in this one.
---
OPTION A
A parody of JRPGs, with all the trappings one would tend to associate with it. Knights and close-range combat are the norm. Your goal is to find nine holy gems to free a magic sword which is the only weapon that can defeat a Dark Lord sealed away inside of a can of New Coke 1,000 years ago, who has just been released, seeking to mount another attempt at imposing his Eighties fetish on the world and an ideology alien to that world.
---
OPTION B
An industrial fantasy set in a world where technology and magic coexist and is set in a world that corresponds to the turn of the 20th Century and your quest is a race against time to find the nine gems and recover the magic sword before the enemy can use to power a wonder-weapon to break the stalemate in a World War I-style conflict currently being fought. Unlike Option A, this one is played straight.
---
On one hand, Option A sounds more fun, but Option B seems to be a road less traveled. I'm having a hard time deciding.
