Which side view battle system would you recommend?

Almost everything's in the title but here are some details:

- I need to be able to switch from one battle system to another: I use Yanfly's Ace Battle Engine for characters combat, and I need to switch to a side view battle system for mecha combat.

- I need something simple to use, because I'm allergic to code/variables/numbers/etc. – well, it's a figure of speech of course: if I have to put some data in the code, I'll do, but if I can avoid it, it'll be far better, obviously...

- I need a battle system which allows animated battlers, even simple animations with a bunch of frames only.

- I plan to go commercial with my game, so something free is preferable but I am willing to envisage to pay something if it is worth it.

Finally, I envisaged to use one of these but I'd like to get some opinions concerning the above listed details before making a choice and experimenting:

- Reedo's Simple Side Battle System Ace Edition (RSSBSACE)

- Molegato's Basimple Battle System

- Fomar0153’s Basic Side View Battle system

- Enu’s Tankentai

I believe it is all; thanks for reading  :)

Reedo's Simple Side Battle System Ace Edition (RSSBSACE)
Havent tried it yet, but afaik, it's simple yet appealing. You should try.

Molegato's Basimple Battle System
I dont understand the config. It's said 'simple' but I'm not sure. Just try it.

Fomar0153’s Basic Side View Battle system
It's not even animated. If you want animated one, use another SBS

Enu’s Tankentai
Not simple if you're allergic to code/number/variable. use another SBS

----------------------------------

My Recommendation

Galv Animated Batter

Free to use for commercial as already state by galv in his Terms of Use

Also (it should) quite simple to use

Kread-ex Animated Battler

It's use animation to animate your actor. It should quite simple if you're allergic to code/number/variable

It's also free for commercial. As it already state it on his Terms of Use

I have to say if you are looking for the most simple yet high quality I would go with Redo's SBS script, I have used it a few times and it is quite nice without having to do anything besides put the script in :) you should definitely check that one out

I think Hime made a combat manager of sorts that allow you to switch between battle engines. IDK which ones it supports though

Thanks to everyone for the input: much appreciated, really  :)

After more researches, I found a video showing Yanfly's Visual Battlers used with Galv's Animated Battlers, which may be what I need because Hime's Battle Manager script is compatible with Yanfly's systems; but the question remains: how much simple is Visual Battlers?

While I'm at it, do you know if it is possible to remove the characters sprites from Visual Battlers in front view? Because, if yes, I could use this script only and set it to front view or side view according to my needs – this may make everything far simpler actually...

If you don't want downloading sprites from the internet, i recommend:

Fomar's Side View

Well if you want downloading sprites from the internet, i recommend:

Theolized SBS (i'm using it right now) And yes it's owned by TheoAllen

Do you have a reason why you're allergic to code?

Didn't someone JUST ask this same question a couple of days ago?

Because you're alergic to code. I would never recommend mine they want something simple.
LOL! Alright... :)

Do you have a reason why you're allergic to code?
I'm an artist: I believe what I see and code always looks like voodoo to me – but I can ensure you that I tried, I really tried to learn...

I believe this question is asked regularly, yes, but for my needs being rather specific I thought it was better not to hijack the topic of someone else.

@YangFly - it's not always about the best though, sometimes it's about which one gives you all you need while keeping it easy for you. It might be the best, but if you can't understand how to use it, then it wouldn't be of any use to you. :)

So, after several trials and errors, I came to the conclusion that using Yanfly's Visual Battlers only will not be possible. I couldn't find any way to remove the party's characters from view and displacing them out of the screen make the animations of damages taken from the battle follow them (the animations appear half cut on the border of the screen the corresponding character battler has been moved to and this, of course, is unacceptable).

Then, I need to use Hime's Battle Manager to try to make Yanfly's Ace Battle Engine and Visual Battlers cohabit, but this beast is a bit complicated (for me) and gave me only error messages and game crashes so far. I asked her for some help but... Well, I'm back here...

Does anyone has any idea about how I could get a working result?

I will be with theo and I will recommend you to AVOID Enu tankentai

I am the one who upgrade the english version of tankentai ace and if you hate variable and coding I will totally not advise you tankentai.

I am a tankentai lover and I will say tankentai level is really powerful and have a lots of option and the only one who can equal him is theolized battle system. (in my opinion)

but the cons of theo and tankentai are ...a lot option equal really hard to manipulate

Also both are TIME consuming to work on and if you don't want to invest time in the configuration avoid this two system they will not be for you

on this c: ...I think you will find a cool battle system c:

Thanks for the pointer, man, much appreciated, but the problem right now is more to find a way to make a side-view battle system cohabit with the default front-view one...

Unless you know a battle system which allows to do both following the circumstances, even if it is complicated to manipulate?

it will be hard to do. since people write his battle system without design to switch battle system.

the only battle system i know that allow switching is GubiD tbs (it can support one more battle system beside it's tactical one).

but it because he design his battle system to support that.

does your mecha battle need to be side view? or you're open to tactical? if yes you might want to consider Gubid TBS.

Actually, my game was planned to be a tactical at first, then I understood that GubiD was a bit too much complicated for a beginner like me, so I switched to a more "normal" game; I'll probably go back to GubiD for my next project, though, but that's for later...

As for my mechas needing to be side-view, well, yes and no: the majority of mecha games are in third-person, so I believe most players will like to see their mechas in action, but doing the entire game in front view will be easier. Making a choice is hard, here.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
