Hi. I need Assistance choosing a story to continue for my game. Both took time to create, and I wish to execute one as my first, official game project. I seem to be torn because I love both of them dearly. So, which one would be best?

Aegis Story

You play as Alice in the world of Terra, rising in it's use of magic and elements. Alice is a Princess of a Royal Town who lost her parents in the current war with their neighboring kingdom, Lucia . With her brother Harold running the kingdom, he forces her to get married to the prince of Lucia to bring peace to their continent again. But on the day of the wedding, a group of Sky Pirates come crash the party and kidnap the princess to prevent the wedding. Taking Alice to discover the truth of Elements, Terra and even herself.
Soul of Light

You play as Kiyo in the land of Gaia. Odin creating a land where humans can live in peace, being powered by the Yggdrasil Tree. With the forgotten Rune element, the Forte kingdom has been raiding towns to find the rune element, including Kiyo's town. Due to this raid. Kiyo, along with his best friend Guye goes to become Crusaders. As Kiyo goes to the journey on becoming a Crusader, he finds Amelia which suddenly turns his adventure a different route in discovery of the truth of Gaia and the Rune Elements.

Why not both?

Make Gaia the planet, Terra the country and combine the two stories surrounding the Yggdrasil tree and the Wedding (and the political themes assosciated with it) and turn them into one big thing? You could have all kinds of things going on between.

I agree.  I think either of the stories is okay on it's own, but between the two stories lies a cool dynamic...  offering in itself, a world of possibilities.  How would it play out if Alice and Kiyo's paths were to cross.  How would they interact with each other as well as with others?

I'm not sure, really. Alice would be stuck up and prolly not try to speak to Kiyo, while Kiyo will first be nice, until offended.

Soul of Light was meant to be surrounded by Norse Mythology with slight inspiration of Tales of Symphonia

while Aegis Story had slight inspiration of Final Fantasy 9, but more based on my ideas.

spoiler? um why are you warning for spoilers?

anyway, these two "stories" are just settings and inciting incidents, there's not much here to judge. Why don't you think beyond the inciting incident? Where are these stories going? And write the story you want don't ask a forum for help.

Both have completed stories written. I guess I was trying to explain without telling so much. I'm not so good at explaining things, I'm sorry. I didn't know which one to choose, and I guess I want to go with the one people find more interesting to enjoy when playing a game first. I'm happy with how both come out, but it's my 1st game and I wanna make it something people enjoy.

Just post what you have, I reckon. A story can be cool in the way it's told, and posting more info in what will become an obscure forum post nobody will look back it shouldn't be an issue!

RMMV
@SLEEP - I didn't gather that the poster was wanting help writing the stories, just wanting to know which sounded more interesting to those who might potentially play the game, and I think it's fine to ask for that opinion.

Personally, if I had to choose between the two, based on what you've told us, I would prefer the second.  And while there might be some neat aspects of combining the two, don't do it at the expense of either story line.I had two completely different story lines that at one point I thought I could combine or mesh somehow, but I'm realizing it will not do either story justice to try to do that.  They need to stand on their own.

Having read these latest posts, and considering the background you supplied for both stories, I now feel that perhaps they would be better off as 2 separate stories.  As to which would be cooler, that is hard to say.  As an avid fan of both mythology (including Norse) and FF9, it is hard to say if given the choice, which one I would play first.

As a perspective player of any 2d vintage style RPG, I can say that a well-rounded story is always best.  It should incite a wide array of emotions: happy moments, sad moments, adrenaline, intrigue, suspense, comical moments, a little playful romance if possible (rated G), and any other moods worthy of experience.

In my experience, great games come from great characters...   the more diverse, the better.  So at this point, look at the 2 stories based on what you know and have not yet spoken - which story offers greater character dynamic?  At this point, THAT story gets my vote.   :)

If I had to pick one I'd say Soul of Light. It sounds a bit more interesting and its generally a good idea to avoid the standard rescue the princess dynamic IMHO.

I also think a merge of the two would be best, however.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
