The more important question - Who doesn't like Star Wars?!

Star Wars captured my imagination, and still does. The settings alone are great inspiration for cities and stories.

Yeah, it's really more who doesn't like it.

The problem with us indies making Star Wars games is that it automatically makes it a non-commercial fan game, with all the legal complications discussed in forums before.

Making a game is hard work. It's pretty tough to put in all the work only to make a game that may get you sued or at least cancelled.

Hey I'm not saying if you want to do it you shouldn't. If you make a Star Wars game I would definitely play it.  :guffaw:

Star Wars is a great series. Episode VII, I think, was the coolest thus far.

I actually have my own Star Wars series in the works, taking place millions of years after Episode VII.

The characters and locations are mainly my own, really the only visible link this series has to the original are small references and flashback.

Centuries or eventually thousand years after the battle of Yavin might be enough. Million years after might be a bit too much, what with evolution and all that.

A good Star Wars story is hard to do. It's not just spaceship and lightsabers.

the Kotor series captured it really well.

played in a few P&P games as well, really enjoyed it. Was planning to GM a campaign in the old republic setting (5000 BBY) but didn't happen :(

I'm a fan too, episode VII was good and definitely better than the prequel trilogy to me, but not as good as the originals (4-5-6).

I'm just glad Lucas sold the rights to Disney, many fans (me included) think the franchise will be better without him.

I'd have to go digging, but I once found a scan online of one of Lucas' original scripts.

It was AWFUL.  Like, imagine the most poorly written teenage fiction, run it through Google Translate into another language, then another, and then back into English.  That's what you would get.  As I understand it, the actors did a LOT of ad-libbing.

I'm a pretty big fan and f the movies, but I've never really read any of the novels or comics.

When I heard they were making VII, I cringed, having been burned by the prequels.  (Seriously, I kept wanting Baby Vader to get sucked into one of those podracer engines).  Then, my buddies and I went and saw the film. At the end, I was cheering.

Oh--and Finn and Poe are OTP.

Something that I appreciate from the Star Wars films is how similar the plot resembles eastern cinematography, especially Kurosawa films like The Hidden Fortress. When I had heard about that, it really opened my eyes to many different eastern filmmakers and was sort of my launchpad into really learning to understand film in general.

One thing I always found hilarious about Star Wars is that in one of the oldest concepts for it, Luke was an attractive young lady in a romantic relationship with a Han Solo like character, who, for some ridiculous reason, looked exactly the same as George Lucas. Also, Emperor Palpatine was originally a completely different character named Cos Da****. It makes me wonder if all movies have mind-bending rough drafts and Star Wars is the only one we see. Regardless, it is still reassuring to know that not every idea springs out perfectly formed the first time around.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
