Why Am I Here is a game that came out of a challenge, which amused me so much, and made me want to complement it. The direction that the game went cheered me up, and I ended up making it a side project - those projects that you don't take so seriously but that amuse you more than serious projects. As in the challenge, I kept the idea of developing everything via events (although I don't know if I will keep this idea), except the detection of keyboard keys, which I needed a plugin borrowed from Yanfly.

I still don't know if I will make the game available for free, or if I will demand the amount of $1, just to add value. By the way, a demo will be made available before anything, so that the person can decide whether to download / buy and try everything he will offer.

You must choose between one of the characters to start a journey already being asked with a very direct question: "Why am I here?". This is what you must discover.

Randomness everywhere

I'm not sparing any effort with regard to randomness, and this is to compensate for the absence of procedural generation of maps, which I still don't know how to program. But that does not mean that you will always go through the same maps each time you play. I put randomness there too. Treasures are valuable, but sometimes they will surprise you. Don't be so confident if you don't want to be surprised by a rock that will fall with all its weight to crush your head. Enemies will not always be what they appear to be. NPCs will not be the same and, even if they are, they will not act the same way every time. You definitely have no control what can happen - even when you think you do.

Three initial archetypes (or maybe even more)

At first, I inserted only three classes: Warrior, Archer and Mage.
  • The warrior is more resilient, but does less damage;
  • The archer does a great deal of damage, but has no regenerative ability;
  • The mage does a lot of damage and has zoning abilities, but consumes a lot of mana.
Useful but not always available skills

Your only tools will be your class skills, which will be:
  • The basic attack;
  • Three types of tactical magic, where the first will be available at the beginning of each adventure and the other two you unlock by doing ... well, never mind;
  • A defensive ability, which can regenerate HP or activate a utility effect, depending on your class.
Scenarios with known biomes but full of mysteries

The game will feature a total of 70 different levels, and each one will be designed to bring a unique experience. Ideally, none of the scenario events will be repeated on another map. It is not because a bridge collapsed on one of the maps you passed, that it will occur on all bridges. It is very unpredictable. Anyway, the player will only play 7 levels before the end.

Yes, you will have a story, and it will be ... random

I took advantage of the randomness to have a small narrative experience, which will vary according to the maps you pass and the class you play. You will never - I repeat, never - have the same narrative experience each time you play.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
