Why does this keep happening when I try to add furniture?

it's weird... especially when putting the others look fine... just to ensure: all of those furnitures are from B-E right? and the others are A tiles? have you tried restarting the program?

The floors and walls should be from the A tab, not any of the B-E tabs. The furniture items should all be on the B-E tab.

At a quick guess, I'm thinking you've put the floors and walls onto the B-E tabs instead of the A tab, which means anything else from the B-E tabs will replace them rather than overlap them.

I was thinking of that too, but seeing the pic, it's weird that the shelves, stairs and bed work totally fine...

No, they don't. Those things take up almost 2 full tiles, but some of them don't quite fill the tile. Look along the bottom of the shelves - you can see the transparent background. And little slivers at the very top and bottom of the bed.

The repeating pattern on the floor gives it away - if that was an autotile, that pattern would only be around the edges, unless shift-clicking had been used to make it repeat all over.

No it's not.

The other tiles take up the entire 32 by 32 aquare and wouldn't reveal the problem.

The clock and crate have transparent areas that show that the floor and walls must be on the same B-E layer.

At least it seems that way.

***edit***

haha ninja'd by Shaz!

Plus she's right about the slivers of transparency on the bookcases, too!

Go to the tileset menu and see if your tileset properties are set on area type, field type or anything else. I use vx ace, but this is the only thing I can suggest.

The cause and solution have already been identified :)

Field/Area type only affects the A2 tiles, which are autotiles.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
