People may have their different reasons; maybe some do it for likes or post total, some just might want to help where they can cause it feels good to do so, others might just want to help keep the forums running smoothly. My personal reasons for helping people out are that I'd want the same in return if I needed help; so I'm more than happy to help out people if I'm able and share some of the modest resources I've made.

This is a great community most of the time with a lot of people who are more than happy to support each other in many ways, whether that's answering questions, sharing resources or dispensing advice or support in threads like the monthly progress threads or Game and Map screenshots. You've picked an excellent community to join, I know I can proudly say that I'm a forum member of this site and that I support Rpg Maker; they've given me no reason not to.

The RPG Maker community as a whole across the web has always been about helping each other out, going back many years before this site existed, before RPG Maker was officially released in English, even. It's a quirk of the Internet, really, and it's the same in a lot of programming websites too.

Because some people just love to help - to make people happy. Or just they want to show their skills and show everybody how PRO they are.

In all seriousness - I'm really grateful for amount of help I've received here. Whenever I got stuck, the community helps me jump over that hurdle and move on with the progress.

And that's just great to be able to help the others - simple 'Thank You' is enough of a reward. Maybe I'm not that helpful here - because there are many better people than me, but I AM hyper-active on the other forums and I was able to help few times and that's a great feeling.

It's the mods who rule us with iron fist.

Perhaps it's because there's not much stuff for people to get upset about. Game design and other topics are usually discussed in general, unlike other forum where you focus on a specific game and people opinions diverge on what's good or bad for the game.

Also, most people here develope their own games instead of just playing them. We are very eager to listen and learn from each other, instead of shouting out our believes. This means we are much more open to discussions and understanding other peoples views, because it might aid us, too, in the end.

It's a great place, really.

This forum forbids sensitive subjects in general via its rules. Basically it has been well nurtured community so far.

Back when this forum was still young, there used to be trolls and stuff like that rampart. However those guys either left or got banned by breaking the rules so much in a short period of time.

I know this since I had conflict with them too somehow.

Helping is good, right? I'm new in this forum, but I try to help whenever I can.

I'd add in one of the reasons that that feeling has moved to the official site as well is because the way RPG Maker is ran in the west to me, is just so much different than most products I see.

A super super high percentage of the people working on RPG Maker in English are culled from the same group as the fans. We care as much about people making awesome things with RPG Maker, or just with gaming in general, as we do making a profit (and hey, we want to make a profit because we want to keep selling RPG Maker to you guys, not because we are a faceless evil corp :p ).

I think that we get to be in a really rare situation where most of the employees are also fans, and that it helps carry on that same super friendly atmosphere.

Part of the reason, I think, is because almost everyone here has been there. As game engines go RPGMaker is simple, but when compared to all programs it is fairly complicated, leading to almost everybody struggling with something in it at some point.

It is because we are one big happy family, we help one another for their dreams to become a reality and we see parts of our works put into their dreams. I don't have the artistic/musical talents like most awesome people here but I try to help as much as possible through advise on how to work with events or with game mechanics and such, it's not much but I try my best to contribute in this awesome community because I love you guys! I agree, everyone here is super nice :) For me this forum is like a second home with my second family. There isn't another place I'd rather be because there's always such a nice atmosphere on this forum  :)

Because sharing is caring.

Also, this community seems relatively grown up, many of us are adults (or close to be) who have no time to waste being d**kheads just for the sake of being one.

Oh, and we do not feed trolls, so their chances of survival are rather low here.

But, yes we all strive to be helpful, but whining, lazy, b*tchy people are also turned down if they make no effort.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
