Why is this ability missing?

Hello there. Just curious as to why an ability is missing. Here are the parameters I'm using:

Character hit chance is at 116%.

Ability success chance is 100%.

Enemy Evade chance is 0%.

Sooooo...either I'm missing something (mostly likely the case since I'm a derp), or there's something wrong with the calculations within the system. Any ideas?

The skill has to be set to "Certain Hit" and it will always hit. :)

Does that mean there's some other math thing to take into account for a miss?

I use some of the X-Param and S-Params (such as the Magical/Physical damage attributes) that only apply when the skill is "Magical" or "Physical" attacks, so changing them to "Certain Hit" will mess with those numbers. 

I've made sure to comb over all my buffs/debuffs/etc, and I can't seem to spot what could be making somebody with 116% chance to hit, get a a miss.

There are several possible ways, and you didn't give enough info to see what possibilities might cause your problem.


Can you give us a screenshot of the skill, the actor and the class - and test the skill on an extremely weak enemy to see if it might be something on the enemy that causes this?

Does it still happen if you add Critical Evasion Ex 0%

Also if your actor or enemy has any states, those might affect the results.


Is it actually missing, or just doing 0 damage?

@Shaz: None of my states actually effect Hit/Evade chance and I've tested it on a "test" enemy with zero active states, minimal stats (super bloated HP pool), and zero evade chance, and it still seems to get a miss here and there, it's really odd.

As for the damage, it doesn't do any damage, just rolls a "miss" altogether. I'm contemplating just foregoing the "physical/magical" attack options and just sticking to "certain hit' and then playing around with elements to cover the other portions of my battle formulas, because this is silly lol. >_>

Do you have any plug-ins installed? A plug-in could set a global max on a to hit rate, resulting in the sometimes miss. This actually happened to me in my project, as I had one that put a minimum on my EVA, so I couldn't get the guaranteed hit I thought I should. So check for plug-ins that:

1: Put a maximum on your to hit. Anything capping it < 100% would force a miss every now and then.

2: Put a minimum on  your EVA. All you'd need is > 0% because unless you chanced the calculation, even 116% To hit and 1% EVA still rolls a miss every now and then.

Can you show us screenshots of the actor, class and enemy? And maybe the weapon or skill you're using as well.

Don't attach them. Post them to another site and then add a link.


Attachments use up your allotted disk space. So if you've ever added attachments to previous posts, that'll be why. The amount of space allocated per person is pretty small - it doesn't take too many files to use it up.

That's a lot of plugins there! Does it still miss if you disable the plugins? It could be one of those causing it.

You could just create a brand new project, set up the actors/enemies/other database stuff the same way, and see if it happens. If it doesn't happen there, then it's likely a plugin and at that point you could start disabling them individually.

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
