I was wondering why this website doesn't support RPG Maker 2003. I have worked really hard on an original RPG Maker 2003 project. I wanted to post it on this website to show my development but it wasn't accepted. Why is that? You can even make some great content with RPG Maker 2003.

Because there was never an international release of the engine, a lot of people acquired their game by pirated means. And piracy is a big no-no.

You mean that RPG Maker 2003 was translated by others or something? Cause how is it that we can use this program anyway?

As I understand it, RM2003 was translated by fans and distributed as a pirated copy. A legit English version of it does not exist.

RM2K along with it's predecessor was never released outside the Japan market officially. The engine was fan translated so that English speaking users could understand and enjoy the product. However, that doesn't make it official. Degica, publishes RMXP, RMVX, and RMVXA for the western market which makes these makers official and supported. This forum isn't a fan created forum, It's the official one. So because of governed laws your not allowed to 'legally' release your content and which also means the forum doesn't support content of the two said engines. That primarily explains why your project wasn't excepted.

I understand. Thanks for the info. I knew that this was an official one but I didn't knew that about RPG Maker 2003.

Yeah, I found it a bit sad that because the IGMC entry Oneshot was made in 2K3, it got disqualified for those reasons. It was a promising game.

I know it's disappointing, but the good news is, if you keep an eye on the Steam sales, you can often purchase XP or VX Ace (legally supported versions of RPG Maker) for a very low cost.

There is also a version (VX Ace Lite, I think) which is legally free to use indefinitely.  It comes with some built-in restrictions but it's another legal option.

The questionable status of the games (the engine itself is illegal) is but one reason I abandoned the three makers (RM95, 2k and 2k3) and took the games I made on them off RMN (another RPG Maker site), opting instead to remake them on Ace. Another is that I feel they don't represent my ability at making games anymore, with the exception of the last two games I made using the makers.

Thus, I only make games on RMVXAce, RMVX, IGM, and RMXP (there may yet be a project from me that has some use there).

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
