Hello everyone, we are thankful for the awesome support the community has been providing us for the past few years.

If you would give me some of your time, what made you stay with RPG Maker for all these years? What particular features and community-related activities do you like? Is there something more that you would like to see from us? Your feedback and support is valuable!

Cheers everyone and I hope that we will have a glorious 2015 and future to come.

sincerelly I don't know...I think it's the attraction of making a game and have access to script knowledge?

on a more serious note it's simply the features what's offer rpg maker and the easiness of the tools!

look even my little sister of 11 years was able to use rpg maker without big problems :)

for the forums I thinks it's more because this place is awesome and offert  a lots of support and the guys here are cool and make you feel comfortable :D

The reason I'm still here is the fact that with little effort, you can make an okay game. With decent effort you can make a good game. Putting in great effort results in a great game.

It's a program that rewards you for spending time on your project rather than throwing something together using the original resources.

Edit: I also forgot to mention the fact that this community is awesome and I love popping in here every now and then. So. Yeah. I love you guys!

Since I started with RMXP, I have yet to find another tool that is this easy to use and provides nearly all the resources you need to get started on a game.

That and I don't know, I feel like I'm attached to the community as a whole.

Well, the software itself has always been welcoming to someone like me who has minimal to no computer programming knowledge. I'm able to build a game without requiring the heavy background or being forced to spend weeks just getting a few algorithms working. Very simple and relaxing for my level of expertise.

As for the community, honestly I'm just happy that it's actually active. Most game forums just utterly die within a year unless it's an MMO or mainstream multiplayer game. I took a break for 2 years for studies, and when I came back, I had prepared myself for a community that was much smaller with admins/mods that I've never heard of before. Still 1000+ active visitors during most of the day and same familiar faces just amazed me. The member base just really loves doing this stuff and staying here. Seeing old-farts like myself makes me feel a little more welcome since I always expect to only see kids in highschool/college for game communities (no offense to the younguns).

Well, I haven't used RPG Maker a terribly long time, not compared to others. But I continue to use RPG Maker over other engines because it is just so darn accessible for me.

I'm not a programmer. I don't think I'll ever quite have the chops to write code. So RPG Maker allows me to create a game without needing to learn a programming language Yet amazingly, at the same time, with a little elbow grease I've been able to make what I've wanted.

I also have stuck around because I have absolutely fallen in love with the community. Not only the events, contests, and Restaff. But this community is so generous to each other and looking out for one another. I've made a circle of friends here. These are people that I rarely go a few days without talking to!

I also feel like we're listened to pretty well in this community. When something is requested and in large enough demand, it's almost always considered for a store release.

I don't know if I can recommend anything ultra specific. All I can say is keep up the fun and comradery.

I'm a newcomer here, and I've only been using Vx Ace since early this year. But what I like is the ability to be able to create a game without needing to do the technical programming. As someone who has worked in the software industry full-time for 20 years, plus owned an indie game company on the side for 10 of those 20 years, I'm really getting burned out. The stress of keeping up with technology is getting to be too much for me. But I still enjoy the creative process of making games - developing the story, mapping, and bringing together the art, music, and sfx that help me realize my vision - and RPG Maker is letting me do that, without stressing me out.

As for the community, for the most part I've had a positive experience so far. Every community has a few snarky members who make newcomers feel like idiots for asking questions, but most of the folks here I've interacted with so far have been very positive, encouraging, and helpful. I like the thread where we can post screenshots to get feedback and see what others are working on. I love the resource shops and classified pages - I've been able to find some folks to help me realize my vision for my game, and that is invaluable. The monthly ReStaffs are awesome - the regular supply of free, fresh materials to use with the engine is a big plus, and I like the Member+ features. I also like the resource packs that you regularly produce and sell, which are richer and fuller sets of resources than the ReStaff provides. Keep up all those things!

On the software front, I'd love to see Mac, IOS, Android, and Linux support added, as well as more hardware acceleration for graphics so we can do things like lighting effects and have many more layers than the engine currently provides, without the need for scripts. It would be nice to be able to have more control over the user interface and the AI without needing to resort to scripts as well.

I actually didint start out here. I wont say what forum was my first (dont know if its allowed) but i pretty much kind of...well, ended up here by accident lol. :) Well ok, no, not exactly and accident. I first joined back when Ace just came out, and for quite a while i wasint very active at all. But I slowly kind of warmed up to everyone so i settled here. No longer am i a wanderer of forums ^_^ !! lol

But more seriously, being a member here has helped me with alot of things, one thing being just helping me to get out of my head a little so i dont go insane o_O , lol. So i guess thats part of the reason i stuck around.

And as for choosing RM . Man, i was so excited when i first found out that RPG maker existed! Sure...i havent actually finished a project yet, but i found out that i like making art for the program a little more that making the actual game its self anyway. (although, i would like to actually complete a project one day. lol) But man, i used to really suck at it! Thats another thing, back then i never thought id be anywhere as good at making tiles and sprites as i am now.

Anyway, hope that answers your question. :)

I just realized we've been doing this for a while now. Pretty much all staff members were already well known to the RPG Maker community before it got an official forum - and we kind of stuck around still!

I think what makes us a great community is that we regularly interact with members, as well as listen to their proposals. We're all very helpful and positive and want to see each other succeed, you guys are awesome.

RPG Maker probably has the most kindest and helpful community, I'd probably wouldn't still be using the software if it wasn't for the awesome staff and long-time regular members on this site and RMN. Though it is sad to see members from 2-3 years ago that are not active now.

As for the engine itself... It's just so damn fun to mess around with. Even though I have (yet, still working on my bigger titles) games, I learn things from my previous starts and make a better setup for another game the next time around. And with new scripts and resources constantly coming out through DLC pack, Restaff, and just good 'ol jolly members willing to share, it's hard to get board even after all these years.

The day this site and RMN dies, I'm going to mourn by stop using the Internet.

For me it was the easy of getting started, and then the possibility of adding to my skills incrementally.  I doubt if I'll ever be able to write a script from scratch, but that's not the complete block that it might be on other engines.  I am constantly struck by the generosity of so many people on this site when it comes to helping others.  It's difficult to find anything to say that hasn't already been said, so long story short

ease of use, constantly growing pool of excellent resources, helpfulness and friendliness of forum members.

For the detailed answer, please see my post in the topic "How did you find out about RPG Maker?".

That pretty much covers everything you're asking.

For the short answer?  I simply like the program and haven't found (or looked!) for anything better to use.  There probably is something better on the market, but the current maker caters to pretty much everything I need as it is, so I see no need to go out and look for something newer or better.  What would I like to see more of?  To be honest, I'd like to see more tutorials and topics about "how to make the most of the RTP and the Content Packages you can purchase".  Seems like the attitude on the forums is far too often "always use custom content for everything despite having no skill, no talent, and no money to do custom content".  Obviously, yes, we should customize and use original content as often as possible...  But, I'd just like to see more topics, tutorials, and attitudes on "Okay, here's how to make the most of what you're given even if you don't have any talent, skill, or money to upgrade beyond the default".  I would welcome that, personally.  Then again, maybe I only want that 'cause the vibe 'round here feels very "pro spend money and pro pay people to do work you need" to me.  That could be personal bias, to be honest.  There's nothing wrong with that, but I just feel like we should cover the other end of the spectrum as well.

What community related activities do I like?  Eh, I dunno, I don't participate in them.  I sometimes wish I had the talent to do the spriting and such for those contests, but I just don't.  Maybe some writing contests would be interesting?  Not like, "write an essay" or something, but perhaps world-building things and such.  I dunno.  I feel a bit left out of the contests since my talents lie more in the written word instead of the drawn line.  I think they're pretty good for those who can do such things, however.  Do you have music creation contests?  I don't think I've ever seen one, but if you don't, maybe add some of those too?  Stuff for the entire community to get behind would be kind of neat.  Obviously, not all at once... But, to cater to all the major artistic talents that frequent the forums.

Beyond that, I guess I got nothin'.  Take my two cents for what they're worth, ha ha.

EDIT:  Fixed a few errors with my writing and added a sentence.

I've been part of this forum since December of 2012 when Ace was added to Steam. :) I've been part of the RPG Maker community in some form or another since way back when Agetec brought over RPG Maker for Playstation and someone started the Rpg Maker Pavilion. I was really great at making that software do what I wanted and I will always love it. I stuck with the brand because making my own game has always been a dream of mine and RPGs are my favorite kind of game.

What's kept me around?  Well, great resources and a well-seasoned and managed staff of people to look after the forums and users.  When it comes to RPG Maker, the thought of being able to create a title I can be excited about and bring it to my friends, family and other people looking to play something interesting is why I keep coming back to RPG Maker.  It's easy to use, intuitive and it has some pretty great support from both scripters/coders and other users and staff.

I'll wait around to see what else Enterbrain churns out, but mostly I stay for Degica and it's staff.

even though i've only been using RMVXA for a couple months, it's the only thing i've ever downloaded that says it's easy to use and actually is easy to use. plus from my short experience on the forums, the community is very nice and helpful!!

RPG MAKER IS PART OF A LEGACY.

I must have been like 12 or 13 years old, when I played FF2 (was actually FF4)for SNES,  I was told by my older brother, not to play it, that it was too long.  (this of course caused me to want to play it even more.

I fell in love with the world there.

I played every facet of that game, and adored it.  The very same experience happened with FF3 (FF6).

I DEEPLY DESIRED to create my own version.  I thought, that as cool as these worlds were, I could design one even more extensive.  I used to draw out tiled maps on paper, and secretly hope that one day, I might get smart enough to figure out how to make my dream into an interactive video-game reality.

Now, "Tales of Attarrus: Mythic Warrior", IS becoming the game of my dreams.  I have been working on it forever.  It is PACKED with interactivity, and a world more extensive than anything I have ever seen.  Indeed, I have taken this dream-made-reality, and am pushing the limits of RPG Maker.  When I finally release this game, it is very possible I will begin a second.

ADDITIONALLY:  The graphic add-ons and the sound add-ons, available for purchase at an EXTREMELY reasonable price continually make these worlds more beautiful !

For vintage style 2D RPG lovers such as myself, there can never be enough graphics and sounds (that is why you get so much of my money and time!  hahaha)

Seriously though, thank you for making a dream into something real.  Life is good.

Good thing about rpgmaker? Available graphic assets are easy to access, easy to use, and easy on my wallet.

Not sure about you guys, but I believe these graphic asset ****s could be one of the biggest road blockers in game development.

but when we think...it's almost like a small familly here we not need to have 3 000 000 of members we feel comfortable in this community.

I generally dislike forums because a lots of times it's can be full of people who annoying you like the people who love destroy your opinion just because you don't have a University grammar level ...or by mod who was not doing their jobs or abuse of their power ....

but this community is not only proffessionnal it's also warm and cool I met a lots of friends here...and I have to admit my drawing level improved a lots because of this forum haha...because SImply I wanted to share my arts and be usefull to this community....

and we all know RMW it's like a big famillial....with rules and dogma....*wear black glasses and takes guns* and don't mess with RMW Famillial  B)
