Alright so I heard a lot of people complain and say TotT (Tales of the Tempest) for the DS is a bad game.
I recently got the 100% English Patch by AbsoluteZer0 and I played about 5 hours into the game and so far I don't see why people hate it. (BIG Tales Fan)
- A few things I saw a lot of people say -
1. The game is a joke, it makes basic Indie game creators look pro. (seriously? I haven't seen a downloadable completed "fan tales game" yet for people to say that.)
2. The battle system is terrible. (Yes, it's a downgraded battle system compared to the Consoles, but I wouldn't say "TERRIBLE", I am enjoying it so far.)
3. "For the record: do not play this game. Ever." -romhacking.net English Patch Thread.
(I'm already playing it, and I don't see what's so bad about the game. Maybe because I'm too big of a tales fan?)
4. The game was poorly designed. (How was it poorly designed? I don't see YOU making something better with a battle as good as that.)
5. The world is empty and too simple. (Lol? have you seen Tales of the Abyss's world?)
A comment from the person who did the entire english patch. (AbsoluteZer0)
"This game is a perfect case study in all the ways you can screw up during game development." (LOL WHAT!? I've seen WAAAAAAY worse.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- A few things I have to say about the game, that aren't a big problem -
- The battle system is confusing, and you can get trapped by enemies sometimes, but what do you expect from Namco when they try something new for a handheld.
- The story is a bit cheesy and basic. SPOILER! from what I know so far.
- The world so far is pretty simple on where to go, not that big of a problem, but you have too many "Surprise Back Attack Encounters".
- You can't tell a party member to use a certain Arte during battles.
- You can't change your artes during battles.
Other than that
I want to know "WHY" people hate the game so much, I personally don't have any problems at the moment.
I see so many people say they hate it, don't play it, and that the game sucks, but they NEVER explain "why" they're those things.

You are a boy Caius who lives in a small village called Fern with your father.
Later that day an injured knight collapses at the entrance of the village.
You, your friend Rubia, your father and Rubia's father take the Knight into their home to try and aid him.
Later after You(Caius) are to watch over him for a while, he wakes up and tells you a message about giving a Stone called the Patiant to the Archduke in Janna.
After so, he passes away and monsters start to appear in town.
You leave the inner sanctum of the Church to go see what's going on, You encounter your first and second battles.
A while after this, your father comes to help you which shows your father turning into a Human Bear and takes out all the enemies.
After so, the village accuses Caius's father that he probably called all the monsters to the village just because he's a Lycanthe which is later explained
what a Lycanthe is by Caius's father, which he also tells him that he isn't his real father, but rather one who took care of him on behave of Caius's mother's request before she was executed.
The next day people known as the "Warrior Priests" show up to take Caius's father (Ramus) away because he is a Lycanthe.
One of the commanders, Rommy later kills Rubia's parents inside the Church and blames Ramus for their death because he is a Lycanthe.
They soon find out that Caius and Rubia were the ones who watched over the injured knight (which had the Stone) and now they want to find
Caius and Rubia.
Caius and Rubia are on a race of time to get to Janna before Caius's father is executed which they meet 2 people in the Black Forest.
Tilkis, a Prince and Forest, Tilkis's bodyguard, which they join your party to help you through the Black Forest.
Later you all arrive in Janna only to find out through rumors that your father was executed without even having a trial. (He could still be alive.)
Forest later get captured and you meet another Priestess by the name Arria who joins your party and leads you to a Sewers where you can sneak into the
cathedral to rescue Forest.
This is as far as I been.
