A note: I was previously working on a game called
Princess Rescue, but my laptop died and I lost all the data. Somehow I hadn't backed it up, ever. Great work, me. Anyway, I have begun this game as a way to regain my lost dignity; a short game that shouldn't take too long to make, that I'm backing up constantly. Hopefully it works out for me.
Synopsis:
Witch Quest takes place in a kingdom far, far away where witches are known not just for their spellcasting abilities, but their worth as advisors. You play as
Wanda, a Witch's apprentice who has learned a little about magic and helping people, and whose mentor believes her ready to face
The Trial and become a Witch in her own right. You set out to face this mysterious trial, encountering people and towns along the way who desperately need your help.
Characters:
Wanda
Age: ??
Bio: Wanda is a spirited young witch who loves magic and is always super friendly. Or is she usually quite rude?
Deep dark secret: What? Why would you think she has one of those? She totally doesn't.
Mentor
Name: ??
Bio: a Witch who has been doing this for a long, long time.
Mayor
Bio: the mayor of the town where you live with your mentor. He's not the most honest politician in the world.
Features:
- a single character (Wanda) in the party throughout the whole game.
- a huge amount of player choice. Decide how to respond to dialogue, accept or refuse quests, and make some Big Choices that shape the futures of peoples and towns you encounter.
- four endings (based on choices made during the game, and a final Big Choice.
- a skill tree system. Will Wanda learn pyromancy or aquamancy? It's up to you. There are six schools of magic to choose from, each with a handful of spells.
- a whole lot of fun minigames and minisystems. Want to go fishing? Or get your fortune told? Go for it. (hint: definitely get your fortune told).
- regular things like sidequests, combat, and NPCs talking about your accomplishments.
- absolutely no custom art or music. RTP, baby!

Progress:
Well...probably about 1/5 of the way there. The game's going to be quite short, with only a few towns, and a few big quests.
