I am new to making icons, I'm looking for criticism and helpful comments on how to improve. I will post several in the coming days periodically. However my first one shall be a gold coin!

I know its not the most goodlooking gold coin ever, buuuttttt... :p

Here is a new one! A sword:

Actually it looks more like a jade coin than a gold one.

But that might be a good thing, considering jade was a worthy gem in ancient times!

Huh, so it does. Lol

Here is a new one:

By the way, When doing swords, or weapons with a hilt, I find doing the hilt first and making the rest of the weapon around it much more simple to do. Is that just me or how does everyone else do this?

I couldn't start on the handle or the blade first for some reason.

I start with research. ;)   I actually don't start with one side or the other, I do a general shape and refine from there so that the sword or whatever looks good as a whole and fits in the size limit.

It depends on what I'll make before research. Say... If I wanted to make a sai I would look for multiple ones and find one I like and base the icon off that. ETC ETC.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
