I know this thread is not primarily about norse mythology, but if anybody is interested I consider myself quite knowledgeable about it. I have read the prose and poetic edda, the Völsunga saga and Njals saga.

My current project is very influenced by Norse culture and the Viking age, though it's still fantasy. Anyone that is familiar with the Edda will recognize. It's called, "The First Lay of Eddais" :p

Also when it comes to dragons, I always heard that the Norse believed dragons were real, but they were never like a fierce beast that needed to be slain at all costs, it was just another one of those animals that if you didn't mess with them they wouldn't mess with you.

Also the Norse had a completely different view of elves then we do today. If I remember right elves were viewed more like the modern day vampire is, except they were like ugly like an orc or something.

The Norse called Dragons the Linorns (I may be spelling that wrong) and there were a number of them. Their blood had special properties, in one of their classic stories the hero Sidgard dug beneath an indestructible dragon to disembowel it, and its blood spilled down onto him making him completely invulnerable except for a thin space between his shoulder blades.

The Elves you're referring to are the Svartálfar. I really, really love Norse Mythic and Nordic Culture. Its a pity Switzerland is now occupied by a majority of pussies these days. I miss the old days of vikings and heavy metal.

As for the topic at hand, I think one of the more interesting things is their skill as seamen. There are a number of settlements that have been excavated revealing their reach was far wider than we'd initially thought, but many of these outposts fell to disease.

This'll be quite useful! The villains in my current project are essentially vikings. Thanks for the resource!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...
