Hello,

I wasn't really sure which forum page to post this under, so Moderators, please feel free to either move it or let me know for in the future. :)

I have two small clips of my World Map and I was hoping you guys could help me out with a problem I'm running into. I've got my world drawn out to be basically surrounded all the way around by rock cliffs - the player cannot get out of the world map due to this. However, inside the rock cliffs are four different 'zones' that the player will be able to visit so far (with a possible fifth one - this is still in the 'works' stage); I have them all drawn out and everything, but I'm not sure what to use for the overhanging cliff that keeps the player inside. At the moment, the only thing I have to use that I could think of is the cliff-side graphic found in Outside_A5 (I'm using the desert one, but don't think it really matters which I use in this situation).

As you can see from the two images, it leaves a rather ugly look to the world map; does anyone have any suggestions on what can be done to help remedy this odd look? It's over-hanging, so there really shouldn't be any sandy edges to it, which I know I can remedy by holding down Shift to remove it when placing it, which I don't mind doing... but then it looks even worse. :/

Is there by any chances any tilesets anyone can suggest, or maybe a default tileset trick that I could use to help make this look better on my world map?WorldMap_Close.PNGWorldMap_Far.PNG

You can't really show any verticality to your cliffs if you don't include a "clifftop" tile for perspective. Also, would it be easier for you to just use the dedicated world map tileset, or are you avoiding that intentionally?

@tumsterfest Thank you for the response, first of all! And to answer your question, I actually am using the World Map tileset, but I needed the world to be broken into four different locations and blocked off as I have them with one central location for a major part of the story. So to do that, I needed to ensure I had the mountain area all the way around it and the islands in each region surrounded by either water or lava (in the fire zones case).

Is there a tileset that anyone is aware of maybe that has upper layer tiles that I could maybe use to act as corners or something for the edges of my 'walls'? I think that would really be all that's needed here, but I've had little luck finding anything like that. I don't even care if I have to buy the tileset, I'm fine with that...

On page 9 of Avery's MZ resources, there are parts for a gray cliffside (with top flat parts included).
