I'm formally announcing my first RPG Maker adventure, World Apart! It's still in the early stages with about an hour of gameplay,
but I'm planning on having a polished demo available within the month! Check out the links below for screenshots and info.

WARNING: This game is appropriate for teens and up, with mild profanity, infrequent suggestive themes, some alcohol use and insinuation of drug use, some gambling, as well as some scenes that some may find disturbing, such as scenes depicting death and dying.

This is a narrative-driven supernatural adventure game, and follows the story of a young medium (person with the ability to speak to the spirits of the dead) by the name of Charlotte Hollis. When Charlotte's reticent husband dies, she becomes baffled at the discovery of her inability to communicate with his spirit, and thus sets out on a journey to acquire knowledge regarding his mysterious past. However, upon leaving her home in search of answers, more questions arise as she learns that her deceased spouse was not quite who she thought he was...

Join Charlotte as she navigates both the living world and a number of surreal dream and otherworldy realms. Explore a large variety of environmental settings, and be prepared for tons of interdimensional travel and magic!

Both humorous and emotional, this game places a strong emphasis on story-telling and character development, and explores concepts such as death, friendship, love, loss, the occult, and the afterlife on an intimate level. While gameplay does not include a traditional combat system, players will experience a variety of puzzles and problem-solving mechanics along the way.

Thank you all so much for the encouraging words! I've gotten about 2 hours now of gameplay, (going for like 6 hours since there's not really combat in the traditional sense) and starting to polish for an upcoming demo. And yes, I've been pumping out a lot of maps recently, and then going back to write in the gameplay and it's going a lot faster than I initially expected. So yeah, demo soon. I will likely put it up on itch.io, and will post in the forum a link to it and everything.

@BrentBAM The vehicle is one of Kokoro Reflections' (where most of the assets I use come from.)

@marino13 Thank you so much! It is pretty moody at times (and was kind of going for that feel since it has to do with ghosts and spirits and spooky stuff, that's why most of it takes place after dark, to capture that feel.) Also the music captures that, too.

But at the same time, I've incorporated quite a bit of humor into the writing. I feel like there's such a thing as too much drama in a dramatic piece, so it's good to offset it with comedic relief. But yeah, it's definitely a pretty emotional, moody at times game for sure.

An updated trailer, as a few pointed out that the text in the original flew by a wee bit too fast for people to enjoy. Whoopsie! Hopefully this one is better. :)

Went to see Jujutsu Kaisen 0 yesterday, it was cool. The movie wasnt really a masterpiece, it had some pacing and characterization problems, but overall I enjoyed it, maybe because it was the first anime film I have ever been to in the cinema lol. The battle animation & music were top-notch. I havent seen much of the anime so people who watched the entire season would probably like it more.

Finally satisfied with the main menu xD

The plan was to have battle sprites in the menu...But these faces from Ocean's Nostalgia look pretty damn good imo. (Will have to adjust for them ofc and maybe recolor to match the overworld/battle sprites more)
It's always disturbing to me to see my cat eating something off the bathroom floor.
