Would you want a plugin to manage dependencies?

The latest videos from the RPG Maker Channel states in F.A.Q. #6 that there is no plugin the manage dependencies, and that you can simply re-order the plugins like we have in previous versions of the software.

Would you be interested in using a plugin that manages loading plugins in the proper order, as long as plugins are made in a way that is compatible with the script? I have an idea on how to get this to work, I just want to know if there's interest in the community.

I do also intend for there to be a function you can input either in a script call or in the new dev tools to get the current order things are loaded in as, so that you can check it and arrange it like that yourself within the editor.

I doubt it would matter for offline games(lets face it, as far as I know, people have yet to hit VX Ace's limits/stressed the engine out, for being sloppy), but I have worked on, online games with other engines, and such is a "huge" help for stability, so yea that would be sweet for those wanting to make multiplayer games, and whatnot.

I think you may have misunderstood me. What I'm thinking about is making a plugin that other plugin developers can use to ensure plugins they need to be loaded in first are loaded in first. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with an online version of any game, it just makes sure that plugins that depend on other plugins load after those that they need.

It's a good idea, but it's also an additional dependency for your script, to solve a problem that is not that bad (you can always explain to the user which plugins need to be added first).

Unless the game doesn't load the scripts in the order they are added on the plugin manager?

Not directly no, but trust me, anything, and everything in game that Isn't functioning efficiently will effect the stability of the game big time, even meaningless bugs like graphic glitches, can cause issues(and It's communitive at that).

They are loaded in the order they're put in the plugin manager, but the script idea would, ideally, eliminate the need for a game dev to do this manually. But you're also correct. It would be easy for a plugin dev to just tell you what order to put things in, that's why I asked if people would want this. It's kind of like a layer of abstraction to try to manage things automatically.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
