I'm working on a game where most spells (at least 3/4 of them) are inflictions of states, not damage, and the infliction depends on magical atk/def versus magical atk/def, so I can't just apply the state in the on-use effects box. Now the way I understand this is, that message "X took no damage" will always appear if you enter a formula for that skill. A way around it is to put your formula in the script, but that only applies for damage calculations. Is that correct? Or is there another way to get rid of it that I am not aware of?

There is a way of doing this.  It would mean, though, that you would not have that line for any occasion.

If you're happy to have it that way, open your script editor and look at the script called 'Vocab'.

Scroll down to line 57.

Remove everything between the " and ", but do not delete the quote marks themselves.

Yanfly has an Anti-fail message script that you can use to get rid of that message. That's the easiest method that I know of.

Yea, I saw that Yanfly script, but as far as I understand, it only works if you don't use the formula line. At least I tried it extensively and it didn't work.

You have my thanks. An elegant solution, for sure! I don't suppose there's any way of removing the empty line that now appears?

That would require a lot more changes to the scripts as you have to find each place where that vocab is used and remove that use from the code

You don't need to use the formula line but you need to use a notetag like this:

I used it extensively myself and haven't gotten any issues, so I'm unsure why it won't work for you :o

No, you don't understand. *I* need to use the formula line.

Anyhow, the issue's been resolved.  :D

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
