This is both a request and a question. At the same time.

And yes, I do own VX ACE and XP; as does my mentioned significant other.

I have recently, kind of convinced my boyfriend to convert our XP game to ACE due to better benefits of ACE. He is, however, quite adament about keeping our original XP characterset sizes due to the battle graphics we have made of them.

I have been tasked with a single mission: Find XP characterset sized resources or the RTP, already converted into ACE-like tilesets.

1) Like any with decent knowledge of a graphics program, I attempted to convert our XP tilesets to fit ACE's standards. I got stumped at the auto-tiles.

In case you did not know, ACE's autotiles work much different than XP's autotiles. ACE's autotiles are shorter and only have three frames, while XP's are larger with four frames. I did know have the skill to deal with this issue.

2) My next idea was to search Google for this problem. This is what I what I found. Unfortunately, they did not convert any of the winter tiles into ACE's standards. Particularly the water tiles. The first part of our game takes place in a snowy area, so this is important.

Now I am here.

*waves* Haaaaiiiii!

The Request Version: Would anyone like to convert XP's winter tiles into ACE's tileset standards, especially the water?

The Question Version: Does anyone know of any ACE tilesets with the proportions of XP-sized charactersets already available as resources? If so, could you direct me to them?

Bonus!

I have seen MACK charactersets formated into ACE-like characterset formats, leading me to believe that there are XP-sized resources for ACE out there somewhere. None of my MACK resources show me this, however. Any answers for this?

Thanks everyone!

FortheloveofPie has been requesting the same sort of thing for a while now (his thread is here) but he hasn't really gotten any reply.  Converting things into Ace's format is really tricky and in the case of autotiles is probably going to require a lot of artistic skill and some redrawing, I don't know that it has been done before.  There is, however, a program to convert the sprites from XP into Ace's format.  It's easy to do yourself too, you just need to remove one of the columns.

I did see his thread, actually. XD

I wasn't ignoring the fact that he mentioned the same thing (though he mentioned he did not buy XP yet), I just thought I'd offer an alternative to do this -- by sharing resources that is already sized well for XP-like characters. It does not have to be RTP or anything, just the correct size. :p

And just doing the winter tiles. Forthelovepie could use the link I provided if he doesn't need winter tiles, since it has everything else. He should get XP first, though. :p

I have tried converting autotiles - and it was not pretty, haha!

As for more appropriate sized tiles, you can use XP, it will just take a bit of formatting them into the correct sized sheets for Ace. You may also look through some of Lunarea's tiles. She does have some XP tiles. But I use larger sprites and I find much of her stuff works fine.

I'm just waiting for a sale :p and I mean I suppose what I am searching for doesn't necessarily have to be XP RTP, but I suppose something very similar and not Mack since from what I have been able to tell XP Sprites and Mack Tilesets don't seem to really go together. (That is my own opinion anyway.)

Also I am interested in what you posted though I can't read Spanish my understanding is that he has some of the RTP Tilesets already converted to VX Ace?

(ALSO WINTER TILES ARE A MUST I DEMAND SOMEONE COMPLETE THIS VERY NICE LADY'S REQUEST!.... It has absolutely no correlation to my desire of a Snow covered northern Continent... none what so ever. ;)  )

Anyway although I am unable to help I do sincerely hope your request is fulfilled.

Yes, everything EXCEPT the winter tilesets!

I have new idea. Maybe.

Would it be too clashing to use ACE's autotiles, but XP's actual tiles?

Well, wait... XP is pixel-based and ACE is painted. I guess it wouldn't work. Maybe I could learn to parallax instead. I have the time, but maybe not the skill. :p

I don't know that you could get all of XP's tiles to fit anyway, there's only A5 that's not an autotile.

Melanii, I have found that *some* of the XP tiles can blend all right with Ace tiles if you mess with the contrast/saturation/brightness a bit. I have no set formula, I just mess around with it until it looks descent to me.
