Alright, so this whole year (starting August 2012), I am thinking of creating simple / mini games using VXA, with a slight use of scripts and events, that is. The problem I do just encounter is that my ideas, or list of mini games to create, has been filled up when I started to search RM game makers who made a mini game like I wanted to create.

Could you help me guys? Please recommend me of a mini game you have in mind you could let me make or something I can do for the mean time. Thank you so much, your replies will be very much appreciated!

I'm not quite sure the question... are you asking for minigame ideas? Usually what I do is transform a story element into something the player can do. Like instead of showing it in a cut-scene why not make it so the player DOES it? This works especially well with action scenes I think. There's probably some part of your story that isn't just fighting that could be turned into a little something even if it's a recurring mini game.

I'm with RavenTDA on this one. In my game, that takes place in space, I'm making mini-games part of the character's adventure. For example, to get into key areas of the ship and have the character progress, he/she will need to hack door security panels to get past them. If you can make your mini-games fit in with the plot of the game, then they won't seem out of place, or a time-waster.

Hmmm its like this, I am hoping of making a fast mini game as a project, but I can't think of a good idea.

How about re-making some old retro games like pac-man and pong?

Then throw in a standard "arcade" manager which allows players to store hi-scores and achievements through mini-games, and then if you ever feel like developing more mini-games you can use the plugin system you developed in order to toss in a new game with its own set of achievements and stuff.

And then release an API for other scripters to develop their own mini-games.

And then you suddenly have an epic system out of a fast mini-game project that you felt like doing out of the blue.

And then you cash in and win big when a game company decides to buy the rights to the system from you. Since there's no real point in holding on to it, might as well sell it! Unless you plan to start a business with that system and end up like those big flash game portals like kongregate etc.

Chess and Go are always good. Loads of code already out there for them, so all you'd have to do is write an extension for Ruby to use it.

Edit: I'm looking through the Amazon preview of "The Ruby Programming Language" by Flanagan and it gives the code for a Sudoku solver. You could generate a random Sudoku, use the solver to make sure it's a valid puzzle, then implement it by a form of sliding blocks (each block corresponding to a number 1 through 9).

That would give the game some replayability as well as giving the player a bit of a challenge. You can replace sliding blocks with any other objects that you can match 1:1 with the digits 1 to 9.

@Mouser - Hey there, friend. You said Chess. Do you have any link of where to find a demo of it? I seem to be looking for one long ago but can't find one.

here's a simple program for the players to move the pieces (you'd have to take over one player's moves as the computer:

http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/topic/104505-chess-board-and-moving-pieces-in-c/

It's written in C but looks simple enough that converting it to Ruby shouldn't me too much of a problem.

If you want a real chess engine, then you can go here:

http://cplus.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zTi=1&sdn=cplus&cdn=compute&tm=29&f=00&tt=14&bt=0&bts=0&zu=http%3A//www.craftychess.com/

I don't see any license terms (don't go with anything licensed under the GPL unless you really understand it and want to go that route. It would mean you could never encrypt your game and send it - all your code would have to be available to the end user). It's written in C so you would have to either write the extensions, or find some someplace that would allow Ruby to run the C code (I'm sure several people have written extensions to do this by now).

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
