What would I type in to just simply make it so a skill displays 1 animation, but damages all or random enemies?

All I can seem to find are either extremely complex battle sequences or nothing at all.  Is there a simple tutorial or answer on how to use this?  I am using front view and just want the animation to play so many times.  I don't get while Rpg Maker MV didn't just add an option for this, cause it causes a lot of issues.

"attack animation: enemies", would cause your animation to attack all enemies. You'd put it in the "<whole action>" sequence.

Doing this would just cause the animation to happen though.

What is it that you want the skill to do?

or you can just tick the scope to all enemies!

but if you want the animation to play continuously for the sake of combos or something..

I strongly suggest you read Yanfly's tutorials about  Action Sequence.

Brendox answered it.  Pretty much doing a wild swing skill with an axe and it hits 3-5 random enemies with a slight chance of allies.  I just needed an animation to play once and not all over the map.  Thanks.

I couldn't find any documentation on the syntax for the action list.  On the website it shows:

<whole action>

setup action

setup action

</whole action>

I just had no idea what to put in the middle.

*Actually I just tested it with what you said and it is not working.  It still does 3 animations.

RMMV
I've moved this thread to JS Plugin Support (or you could have just posted IN Yanfly's plugin thread). Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

So you want one animation that isn't the size of the screen to hit one enemy and the damage to hit X amount of enemies?

It's fairly easy to make an axe swing animation (with the actor only facing the enemy) but a difficult one if the actor is swinging along as well.

It would help us to help you if you could explain to us how you picture this "axe swinging animation".

Maybe we could help you create an animation for that.

Ok, so to give you an idea.  I am using front view, no battle sprites.  When I do a wild swing skill it shows the spinning axe animation 3-5 times.  I just want it to appear once on the screen and damage the 3-5 enemies.  Sort of like a non-target animation I guess.  In the tutorial videos it shows an example of an ice spell that plays an animation on every troop.  Then it shows a lightning spell that plays once on no distinct troop, but does damage to everything.  That is what I am trying to do.

I'm not sure how to make the effect happen a random number of times (I'm sure lunatic mode is the answer though) but for it to show up once and have the scope of the entire screen, you just need to go to the animation tab, find the animation you're using and change the scope.

as brendonx said, chaging the scope to all enemies would help, or setting the animation to the whole screen will do the trick.

PS. I'm sorry I didn't pay attention to the front view battle.

Yeah the whole screen is what I was looking for! :)  so instead of target I just do whole screen.  Well that was easy.

I never got it to work :-(

I just had to work insane hours in RL so I never got a chance to post.

Could someone just write out the syntax for this?  I feel like I am missing something really simple.  I just want to play "1" animation that damages all the enemy troops.  It is front view with NO actor animations.  I tried

<Whole Action>

animation 4: whole screen

action effect: targets

<\Whole Action>

This does not work at all....

You misunderstood him. The Whole Screen setting for the animation is in the editor, not Yanfly's Action Sequences.

Go to Animations -> Animation 4 -> Position -> Screen

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
