First of all, I apologize in advance if this is not the proper place to post this.
I'm beginning to work on a new RPG and decided to try something a bit different from what I normally do: mobs that appear as events on the map and will chase the player when they get too close and will cease to chase the player when they get far enough away. After doing a few hours of digging and doing research on how to accomplish this, I was directed towards Yanfly's Event Chases Player Script found here.
When I downloaded it, I noticed the wiki said it was for VX Ace while the only download I could find that was linked to it was an MV script. I decided to throw it into my game just to see if it would work. It didn't. It gave me an error message on the first line of script. I'm assuming the MV and VX Ace scripts are incompatible, which leads me to my next problem.
I'm not much of a programmer myself and am not trained in javascript, so I'm always leery of using scripts. How would I be able to fix this issue? Is there a way to make the MV version backwards compatible with VX Ace? Is there a way to get the VX Ace version? I'm kind of frustrated because this script seems exactly what I need for my mobs.
Thank you for all your help in advance!
