So I'm using Yanfly Animated SV enemies and the plugin has a shadow feature.

Even in isolation in a new project with the required other plugins and shadows activated, I couldn't get these shadows to show.

did anyone have the same issue or a clue why?

Yes i have, I also have the shadow and shadow2 images in img/system folder. I can't figure out why it's not working for me

Do you have installed any other plugins related to SV sprites, or do you have set shadow size to auto?

Maybe silly question, but have you edited plugin?

nope, I installed the newest versions of the required plugins without touching them.
But the shadows still won't show.
What am I doing wrong?

Oh! Now I see what is wrong. You are using animated SideView enemies actually without using SV sheet for enemies. Because it's happening same thing in my project. In order to see shadow you must specify battler image sheet with following notetag:
Code:
<Sideview Battler: FilenameOfEnemy>
//Without extension
and place that enemy sheet in sv_actors directory.
Of course it probably dramaticly change game concept, but for now it's only known to me solution. But there are animated sprites of default
Rmmv enemies here on this board.

edit2: Don't bother with my image, I made a dude just to easier positioning in troop tab

No more spam from me today, I promise! Just wanted to upload this, people have been giving me feedback that my weapon sprites (which were RTP) clashed badly with my battlers for ages, so today I finally took the plunge and updated them! Really happy with how they came out :D :D
So Facebook fraudulently took money from me. They even went through my PayPal accounts to find a card that had the money on it. Thinking about deleting my Facebook account because this doesn't happen on twitter, not even close.
Today the 2nd part of the RPGMakergame "A Thief's voyage" came out.
