When creating improved independent items via the item upgrade plugin, what effect will this have on the selling price of the improved item? How is the controlled?

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
