Good time of the day. As you may have guessed from the title, i have a fairly common problem.  I've been looking for a proper sideview battle engine which *instead* of your actor uses a sprite of your choosing for almost a decade, but i am yet to find one.

Now to be more specific: I need a script, which draws your battler on the battle screen as a pre-determined sprite (not a side-view actor itself), which during the attack does a little dash-kinda-thing. And more importantly (however if it is THAT impossible, it can be skipped) it should be Action Turn Based. With all that action bars filling through the battle.

Here are some scripts which are the closest to my goal:

1)Customisable ATB/Stamina Based Battle System Script  -  almost perfect excluding the fact that it does not come with it's own battlers.

by Fomar0153

2)Basic Side View Battle Script  -  there you have the battlers, but they are pretty much static. They stay in one place the whole battle making it look like a picture rather than a game. (His Animated battlers script     by Fomar0153                               does not fix a thing for me. My poor knowledge on scripts does not allow me to force it to use only 1 constant frame properly. (If you manage to setup this one in a demo that would                                                      be really nice of you)

3) Victor Engine (ATB)  -  My personal bane. Have a very long story with that one. First of all, all my browsers just refuse to open his wordpress blog. Then, when i actually managed to find a way to get the scripts from a different location they do not tend to work for me. No matter how close i was to the instructions, no matter how much tutorials i have watched it just does not work (most likely due to me being a strawbrains as usual)

So to sum up. I do not ask you to write a battle engine for me (since, even without a proper knowledge on scripts, i realise that this is a freaking long and hard process). All i ask is to compile any existing scripts (any scripts. they does not have to be those which i listed) into a demo with my requirements (ATB, 1 image battler [not an actor], a small movement [shake] while attacking)

Those of you, who still remember Rpg Maker 2003 can probably understand what kind of battle system i am looking for (but without battlers being animated that way). I could have used it, but it lacks many other features that my game requires.

Here are some vids to make it more clear:

This is the ideal look. (But since it was made in RM2003 i hardly doubt it is achivable)

OFF by Mortis Ghost -

And the 2003 engine itself -

(not that ideal, but easier to understand)

I would really appreciate any help.

Why don't you use Battle Engine Symphony? That should fit your description perfectly, you just need to install the sprite-addon for the sprite format you want (probably holders, but there are add-ons for all of the often used sprite formats)

You'll need another add-on for the ATB - test if Symphony can be combined with Fomar's standalone, but if that does not work - Fomar has a variant of his CTB/ATB that is written as an add-on to Yanfly, and Yanfly's YEA can be combined with Symphony.

I totally forgot that this is an option. Thank you. Will try that soon. Yet i am still open to any other options.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
