Wait, the pc version of our games will be online only?!
No. They just use what is essentially a web-browser engine. For example you can download the Linux or Win64 versions of node-webkit, drop it into the game deployment directory and it will just work. If you were to run node-webkit without a webpage you'd get a web browser with an address bar and nothing else (no menus.)

The browser engine shipped with the game client is Chrome 41.0.2272.76. The editor is also Chrome 41.0.2272.76

I can see Op's issue, truly. I agree that allot of things would have been nice to have default in the editor. HOWEVER! (that word deserved to be its own sentence) MV is wonderful, amazing, brilliant, and just really good! SOOO much potential. Javascript makes it truly limitless. I mean, I can't do much with it, but I know that others can. I know that I will as time goes by as well. I could care less if the words look blurry in the editor, they are crisp in the game! True, I have some complaints as well, but eh... you know how close I'd be to making an rpg without this! (don't shoot me, I hated ace) I was actually making a really cool game in 2k3 before my computer decided to dive on me. (I had been thinking 2 days earlier, "man, I need to back up to the external soon"). Switch limits suck, but everything else was great. Graphic limitations didn't bother me 2k3 had everything I wanted except export options. Minecraft proves that graphics don't matter at all. My biggest complaint about movies and modern gaming. Oooh pretty, sweet like candy and icing... but where is the cake? No substance. Just a bunch of multi-million dollar graphics and a desert void of thirst quenching substances like great plot, good (voice)acting and original story telling. (I quit going to "remake" movies, so I basically just don't go to movies anymore). Anyhow, shame on you OP! Same!

Just so we are clear on why Chrome doesn't work with js locally...it's a Chrome decision....so yeah, it blows but every other browser can be used...so :p

This system is clearly built off of node.js which is just a framework using Google V8 engine (Same engine that runs Chrome....seems kinda weird with the previous statement...).  The possibilities with this system far exceeded any expectations I had when MV was first announced.

Anyone who knew of the Telam Ludus project will tell you....RGSS had hard LIMITS!!!!  My goodness...I'm making a multiplayer default battle system that runs over a server right now.

IT'S BEEN LESS THAN A WEEK......IT SHOULDN'T BE THIS QUICK!!!!

The only reason it has been this quick is the developers who made this software....they made a wonderful decision going to JS instead of Ruby.

And to think, I was soooo Butthurt at the time :p

Awesome. Good luck on that project.

There is tons of community support for RPG Maker. It has always been player driven as far as resources go since the early years. They will come soon. Most all these issues are fixable, works just fine in windows 10. This is cheap for software and tons of fun. People on steam are giving bad reviews with 1 hour or less time in the program. It makes me laugh. It's not perfect, but it's going to only get better.

*cough* Expect for the glory Internet Explorer *cough*

Even though who is still using IE except to download another browser? Too bad you can't create a game for windows store because their own browser can't use web audio api ^^ (Same goes for the 3DS and I think the Wii U too :I)

If your screen is blurry, you might need to go to the opticians.
No need to silly comments like that. The screen isn't blurry, some of the the UI fonts aren't sharp. But you can get used to it.

The "blurry" UI is actually easier on my eyes compared to VX Ace's.
You probably like the larger size, which is subjective. But they could have had the larger font size and kept crisp fonts...would have been standard really.

I didn't mean it in a condescending way, I didn't know what he meant by blurry, I work at a PC 14 hours a day and sometimes things look blurry, I personally need to go to the opticians, It wasn't a very good comment, apologies!

Gotcha! There have been a few people who have been dismissive of the minor font issue, so your comment fit in with that line of thinking. But I can understand where you are coming from now :)

You don't need internet to play a game made in MV. There is some real confusion going on in this thread.
see that's kinda vague ground though. because lots of impression is given off that you need a system that the web-browser has, and the game.exe requires those systems.... so if that was true, if you were to try playing a game on a computer that didn't have a webbrowser installed, it wouldn't work?

i don't know if that's the case or not.. yes. i'm so confused. it's not clear at all. can the game.exe run exclusively standalone, without relying on other software (like a webbrowser?) is the question.

How do you playtest your game? I don't use a browser to playtest mine, I test it on my laptop. See the huge quantity of posts from people commenting on how it does (or does not) run on their pc. That gives you your answer. If you had to have a browser to play the game, you would have to have a browser to playtest it.

Just because you don't agree does not make it an invalid thread. Also why not have most of this type of chat in one thread then spread through multiple threads?

It's not hurting anyone the game is young.

I agree, closing this - if you have a real problem, make a new topic in the correct part of the forum.

This is too mixed up to be usable.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
