So let's get some things straight.

Luna Engine is not for noobs. I WILL try to be noob friendly though.

You HAVE to know how RPG Maker VX Ace does some stuff.

You DON'T HAVE to know how RGSS works to use it, but it is not very easy.

You need no code skills involved to do stuff, just to know how to modify a script.

That means for example:   a = 10   Modify this to A = 20 and you are ready to go.  Is that hard?

In this Thread I will post EVERYTHING I learned while diving in to the Luna Engine and RGSS3 to make things work FOR ME.

For ungrateful people that demand, demand, demand, demand, demand tutorials fit to their own personal needs, please click the first spoiler.

For the rest 99,99999% of the people of this forum that actually are kind and nice, enjoy reading. <3

If this thread helps you, hooray! Good job, you made it, everyone is happy.

If not, open your own thread. I don't care.

Crude and rude I know, but i don't give a fart.

See these tutorials I make?

I make them for my own leisure.

So drama queens, trolls and lazy people will just be ignored.

I am not obligated to you and I really don't care if anyone hates these tutorials.

These words are included, so you can understand that tutorial authors are not your servants.
 First tutorial is out.

Notice to moderators:

Please do not consider this as a double post.

It is just for the first comment. I will put the rest of the tutorials on the #2 post. Thank you.

TUTORIALS:

[1] MAKING A MINIMALISTIC MENU FOR YOUR ADVENTURE OR HORROR GAME, USING LUNA ENGINE:

Notice: this tutorial was made 20 minutes before an add on was announced.

The add on makes disabling menu stuff  even easier.

Setting a true into a false....

Here is the link to their thread:

http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/35403-luna-engine-add-ons/#entry350098

Tutorial 1 is deprecated but  I can't just throw it away. And hopefully it might help people do stuff.

====================================================================================

So go to the folder My computer, on your Hard disk that contains Windows XP.

Alternative for Vista and 7 press Start Button on Start Menu and click Computer.

For W8 sorry I have NO idea.

Select Local Disk (C:)   or whatever the letter of the HDD your Windows is installed.

Now you have to find :

Program Files (x86)

or

Program Files if you run Windows XP

Enter the following sub folders:

Steam\SteamApps\common\

Make a shortcut for the subfolder RPGVXAce that is in there, to your desktop.

You will be probably using this shortcut a lot!!!

Now you have to go to:

Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RPGVXAce\dlc\LunaEngine_ENG\Luna Engine Premade Demos\

Copy the whole folder "Luna Engine Sample Project - Etrian" on your desktop.

Go to your desktop and open that folder.

We will build upon this baby!

Rename the folder with your project's name.

Run the  project. Yeah run it!

It has a cursor for mouse. Sweet. It is a sword though... we probably have to change that.

For now let's start a new game. Right click after it starts.

Oh, a nice menu. But it has Skills, Save and other stuff we might not want on our menu.

What we need is only Item, End Game and maybe Save right?

Many people wanna do that and they try things out and manage to make it happen from RGSS3.

What now? What happens if you wanna do it with Luna Engine?

Hang in there, this will be mind blowing.

First things first though!

The cursor!

At the Luna Engine Sample Project - Etrian\Graphics\System folder find the iconset.png file and edit it with a picture editor. Replace the sword with whatever you want for cursor. That's it. You are done. No scripting no sweat.

To remove the not needed menus, like Skill and stuff:

1] Open the project to edit it.

2] On the VX Ace find Script editor (press F11 if you can not).

There is a list on your left that has all the scripts.

On your right it shows what the selected script contains.

You select a script by clicking once on it, to the list on your left.

3] Find and click on Menu Luna

First we get rid of Gold Window.

Yeah who needs gold on a horror game right?

4] On Menu Luna find and comment lines 2833 and 2834.

You comment a line if its first character on the left is #

Not a space no nothing else.

Just a #

You must have something like this. Comments turn green after all.

    #@gold_window = Window_MenuGold.new

    #@gold_window.update

We are not done.

You might not need status window.

5] If not, you go to line 2873 and comment that line out.

    #@status_window

What we are doing is turning commands into comments.

Comments are never executed by the computer.

That's why we remove stuff the easy way.

If we ever need them back, we delete that # and we are ready to go.

Now we have to play with RGSS3 a little to do some magic.

Don't worry it is easy.

6] Find Window_MenuCommand

line 40

    #add_save_command

wanna skill, equip and status out?

Lines 48,49,50 can be commented out.

    #add_command(Vocab::skill,  :skill,  main_commands_enabled)

    #add_command(Vocab::equip,  :equip,  main_commands_enabled)

    #add_command(Vocab::status, :status, main_commands_enabled)

You are freaking done but these graphics suck for a horror game.

I mean... purple????

I will show you how to do some cool stuff with Luna Engine now.

Copy the following picture files, to a new folder.

bg_main

bg1

bg2

chara

charaselect

RollIconCursor

Skin_Cursor

statusdesc

topframe

topframe2

Window

Now edit these pictures on a picture editor!

You copied the pictures to create a backup of the originals.

You can simple make them Black-White grey scale or sepia.

You can also change the shapes of bg_main, bg1 and bg2 to check out how things look.

Your pictures will have the right dimensions cause you build upon the originals! NEVER CHANGE SIZE!

Now if you can tweak the position of a window or a position of a selection, you can do everything work fine right?

So... how?

I will not steal the joy of contribution from @Arceia!

Read her tutorial:

http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/35066-luna-engine-tutorial-freebie/

Hope I made the life of some of you easier.

A final thought:

Luna Engine might be tweaked, patched or modified by their developers in a way that it might change the line numbers.

If you can't find a line you can press Ctrl + F

Enter in the search box:

@status_window

Press Find Next (or Previous) to find it.

You find it.

You can now add the # after finding it. ;)

 #@status_window

=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
