I love all the tiny details. Even having characters sitting down seems above and beyond. Is the woman in that shop image a member of your party, are you playing as her, or is she an NPC?

she is a companion character, that is Keomi.

Gamefall team produced a script for companion AI -- so she doesn't caterpillar behind the character, instead she will occasionally walk off and do her own thing or she will path find to the protagonist.

I don't know if you've been told already, but "darkness" is not yomi in Japanese, but yami.

Then I suppose you mean yomi as in 黄泉. That's not exactly darkness, it's deeper than that. Too bad the English translation loses so much impact.

Yes - it’s actually not supposed to be a direct translation (Yomi No Kuni - World Of Darkness)

Yomi no Kuni to mean “land of the dead”. “world of darkness” is a similar thing in Japanese, but in an English sense we felt it is more digestible to an English speaker for an RPG title “ World of Darkness” vs “Land of the dead” which may evoke more of a survival horror or even Zombie survival type themes.

Either way - we are aware of it and thanks for highlighting! :)

A few things today.

- Some spinning actions added to Keomi's motions on evade and attack, it's kinda cool to see her coming to life!



- Bit of artwork here too while we keep working on more towns / environments + NPC's. ( @cabfe - kanji) ;-)




- and lastly - Yomi No Kuni pop message system (Font/color/style)




One of the dev team is on holiday and I'm off soon too! (it's that time of year!)

Expect we'll be posting out screenshots of a new town towards mid month July, it's in the works!

Awesome as always. I want to know what drawing program do you use for this great environmental graphics. I use KRITA for my pictures and graphics but I think it's not enough to make this stunning masterpieces of your game ^^ Keep up the good work :)

@Bad Stitches for the battle backgrounds we use Blender, we build those in 3d :) we do also use Krita too!

And our town maps are mostly built in photoshop but we also use illustrator and Corel draw ;)

I’ll post out some dev shots sometime so you can see a map in progress.

I got those two from Steam, you might be the essential push for me to start to learn and use them. (Yeah Photoshop and PyxelEdit on my side but never really used Illustrator.)

Well for certain, the technique works very well.
