I'll have to give this game a playthrough once it's complete! Looking forward to it =)
I'm thinking of being a beta tester also if still looking for one.

The thumbnail made me wonder if there were bells, then molds for statues then playing the video, I can say this is REALLY great! ^^

This game is gorgeous! Absolutely the best looking and most original graphics I've seen in an RMMV game. The overworld environments look so professionally done and lush, and the range of animation for the in-battle models is stunning.

In the FAQ you say you're hoping to post a demo in 3-6 months, but I don't know if that's 3-6 months from now or from your last update or what. When do you think a demo would be available?

One thing that struck me as a little odd watching the videos - there are more elements translated directly into English than I expected. e.g. in at least one cutscene they say "masterless samurai" instead of "ronin", there are a load of techniques called "one cut" etc. where you could say "ichimonji". This game seems directed at an audience who adore Japanese culture and samurai stuff, so I think you have a lot of room to be bold and use Japanese language elements and know your audience will understand a lot of them by context (or in the case of the moves, get the hang of them). Sekiro got away with just tons and tons of Japanese language dumped straight into the English version of the game so I think you could do the same if you wanted. But it is a fine line to walk between sounding authentic and pretentious (i.e. "All according to keikaku") so I understand if you prefer it this way.

Also, uh, not to be a total weeb, but in one of the cutscenes one of the characters pronounces "daimyo" as "day-myo". It's more like "die-myo".

Thanks for the feedback!

- Yep - 3-6 months from now we 'should' be able to bring in some betas for testing :) I just want to get things as polished as possible before i do it (currently I'm able to bring enough bugs and edits to keep the team busy, but when I'm done and need more help for bug hunting and improvements, I'll post the link to beta demo)

- I see what you're saying about using the terminology. I really like the idea around renaming the techniques (We'll definitely introduce that) Likewise in the cutscene, we'll re-record these changes for 'Ronin' + 'Day-myo', thanks for the heads up on those suggestions.

Thanks for checking out the project! @EuphemiaArtoria

Posting an update here!

We recently went back through our battlers and made some necessary adjustments to the stances, mostly to make them more interesting, unique from each other and to give a little more "character" to each of them.
We also took the decision to scale them down a tad, to allow more room for more characters inside a battle event, but also to save on some necessary disk space!

Here's a couple of the new poses below.

The background you see below is from the final battle from the demo :)

And here is a small screenshot, which we posted out sketches for a month or so ago, all coloured and detailed, we just gotta get those NPC's in place next! but the atmosphere is there for "the battlements" map!

Well, you know what I think of this game and the quality so there is no need to repeat that... All I am going to say is that this time around I don't even have a nitpicky thing to say ;)

Edit: if you are changing some of the terminology you might also want to consider Kotodama instead of witchcraft/magic. Just throwing it out there :)

Hi @Nightblade50

The demo will free and coming soon - but a full title will be commercial and therefore paid.

I’ll hope the demo changes your mind about investing in the full title on release :)

cheers!

With this quality it has to be paid haha, I would actually be sad if it was free XD.

Anyway, nice work until now! It is looking amazing!

No way should this game be free. Look at all that work!

Hard to believe this is RPG Maker. Looks incredible.

The one piece of feedback I have is that it has those ugly stock SFX. But not to fear, you don't need a sound designer. There are plenty of sites out there to get sounds either for free or paid. And there are sites out there that specifically tailor towards game dev, with licenses that can be used in any engine (unlike RPG maker asset packs, which require RPGM engines a lot of times).

Hey @woootbm

thanks! Glad u like what you see!

SFX sourcing sites, definitely some good stuff out there on a first pass look. I was going to look for a sound engineer but looks like there is a good selection for both commercial and royalty free projects. Cheers for the tip!

This being free-to-play would almost be an insult and not just to the ppl working on it but to the game itself.
(sure I hope it isn't gonna cost an arm and a leg lol) but there should definitely be a price-tag to quality like this :)

Quick update on this side view map, still got quite a few hours left on this thing - pleased with how it's coming along!

Is it strange that dropping acid is improving my game development?
I'm starting to wonder if I should go the Half Minute Hero route with my game. The character's main weapon is logistically way too strong. So I can't really let the player continuously grow it.... But if they had to build it up each time like HMH, that could work. Also it lets me take advantage of my randomly generated maps so much more. Hmm... This could work! :LZSexcite:
