Last dream I had:
I was walking around in town. I came across a lot of people I know. They were acting quite normal. Then they started talking like they were in a game. Asked what it was about. Then I saw them all wearing some kind of headset. Other person explained to me that it was the newest game: easy enough to get into for the casuals, with enough depth and challenge for the hardcore gamers, and it is built on your environment. They didn't notice me at first because I didn't wear some kind of headset, so they thought of me as a generic NPC. The game was really immersive, so they say. Something about a rebellion, being repeated in history, and that the previous rebellion was led by someone called the "Laijon" (Lah-ee-yon, for those who wonder). The goal of the game was to become the next Laijon, who will guide the people to freedom.
Next day,I looked up the game, top scores in every ranking, "Best MMRPG since the beginning of gaming" and such. Asked my parents if I could get it too. Obvious no as the answer. I went back to town, same people, but this time, it was like I didn't even exist! Immersion rate went off the charts, I think. Not shortly after, I found out that I could still influence the game, from outside, by leading them across the street safely and such. When talking, I was like the little voice in the head to them, who tells you what to do. I kind of played the game through them. Nice, I thought, then it became creepy. I started to see the "game world" as some kind of ghost image being projected on the real world.
A week later, I received a letter from the company who made the game. An invitation and a message. They were watching me, and invited me to "discuss" some stuff. Sudden realisation: I became the Laijon! The one who will lead the rebellion. Then, because it is a dream, a slightly different package arrived: A microphone, and an "all-seeing-eye tablet". I had to lead the players, like some kind of god.
Then, the storming of the castle. Revolution is coming. Turns out the real life counterpart of the castle, was in fact the gaming company. We all went inside, but I had to take a different route, as I was invisible to them, but my real life hitbox still applied. We stopped the "evil king" and "regained our land". Then, the game world dissolved, and everyone got back to reality. They finished the game, but didn't know who won. Demanding an answer, I got out of my hiding spot.
The director pointed at me, "There is your Laijon". Words of disbelief and "unfair, she didn't even buy the game!" "How could she pirate it in the first place" "Da Hell?!?!".
Director explained that it was the point all along. They developed the most immersive gaming system to date, but it still had its flaws. The Laijon had to be someone without the game, to look out for the players, because the real world is still there. "But you all enjoyed it, right? We're a gaming company, we bring enjoyment, so did we achieve our goal? Unite the people, let them play a grand game together while enjoying EVERY moment of it?"
And there was much rejoicing. I received my "special edition gaming set". The gameworld was reactivated, but with some patches, to warn you for real life dangers and such. I could still see through the game world, because I was the unseen hero of the story. World's biggest MMRPG, still played as far as I know, in my dreamworld.
This could make for some nice RPG, though.
