I don't care what you say, I enjoyed and played the crap out of the early 3D sonic games like Adventure and Heroes as a kid, but I will admit the games did not age well. I have ~60 hours on Sonic Adventure 2 and ~50 hours in Sonic Heroes... and I know that's considered wasted time nowadays.

The games of Sonic are good. I only hate the bugs and glitches of the 3D ones. :/
The most fun parts of Generations were the 2.5D one's. ;)
Also I must say, I finished Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut for PC too. And in my oppinion, it's still the most beauty version of the game. :)
One of my favourites of SNES where the 2 Lufia games and Terranigma. Also Illusion Of Time (also known as Illusion Of Gaia) where a great game. <3 (\s/)

Nobody knows this game but it's a masterpiece, extremely fun and still one of my favourite childhood games.
I LOVE THIS GAME!

It's called Tombi here in the UK. I've got it and the sequel for Playstation. Awesome stuff.

Favourite outdated games, let's see... Monkey Island 1 and 2, Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Super Metroid, Sim City 2000, is ICO outdated yet? If so, ICO... Come to think of it, all of my favourite games are outdated, lol.

Yes, I remember Tombi, as well as Rayman, Crash Bandicoot, Super Mario, Sonic, etc.

Unfortunately for me, I am terrible at platform games.

The only non-RPG platform games I have ever been able to play through to the end are Hocus Pocus and Magic Pockets.

Gotta be Star Ocean 2 for the PS1.  It didn't even look or control great in its day but it was the single best example of East-meets-West RPG technique I've ever seen and to this day I enjoy the gameplay thoroughly.  It's challenging, it's exciting, it's thoughtful... it's just brilliant.

I feel like if I owned Goemon's Great Adventure (N64), that's one I'd be pulling out and playing all the time.  Sadly it was always just a fun little diversion at a friend's house.

There was also this wonderful little unknown NES game called Anticipation - almost like playing a game of Chutes and Ladders with a Connect the Dots minigame driving how far you can move and enough strategy to make it into a rich experience.  I don't know if this was the predecessor to games like Mario Party (which I also love), but I keep hoping they remake this game for Flash or something, because it was absolutely brilliant.  My NES is about as gone as Steven Tyler's mind, but if it were still working I'd definitely be popping this one in every now and then for some fun.

Have a video of Anticipation somewhere? Why not recreate with an rm engine? (random though)

Yo.  Here's a video that shows the basic gameplay of Anticipation, on easy mode.  Here's a video of people enjoying it (with a bit of snark and NSFW discussion), on a harder mode.

I've never been a fan of recreating old games myself, preferring to come up with new ideas inspired by my favorite old games instead.  But you're right, this is something that could be recreated without too much trouble, assuming you have the hours to create a few hundred different "puzzles".  Maybe in Game Maker or one of those other platforms that has a lot of graphical processing power?

I still enjoy playing the original Metroid for the NES from time to time.

But, really, I tend not to play modern games so almost all of the games I love would be considered "outdated."  The games I love are classic RPGs, some NES and some Super NES games.  Never had any attraction to sports games, not much to multiplayer first person shooters (i.e. most of the non-sports games on the market right now), and kind of indifferent even to Skyrim.

I have to mention these games too, they were the first games that I finished so they're special to me:

Legend of Legaia
I like the Battle System of this game with the combination of attacks and the Spirit command, this is the Rpg game that I finished the most times (10 iirc). I was so addicted by it that I grinded till level 99 to unlock the Juggernaut Talisman, I also liked to kick asses in the Colosseum, it was so much fun. Sadly the sequel isn't as good as this one.

 Klonoa - Door to Phantomille

This...this is...I don't even know how to describe it and I don't care if it can appear a bit childish, it's an awesome game and a fantastic story, I was 11y old when I finished it the first time and the ending made me cry. I liked the remake for Wii too.

I would like to add Guardian's Crusade and Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver too, there are too many games to mention here and it's extremely hard to choose a favourite, hian mentioned most of the ones that I like though. I friggin loved Suikoden 2 too, especially the villain, the conflict in the plot and the unique characters (Flik, Viktor and Jowy are my favourites).

I haven't played either of those games but I feel that if it made you cry then Klonoa must be a pretty darn good game...and that's when you got my memory jogging back to a game so cherished that I don't even like bringing it up. I feel they stuffed it with the second one but this first game...this first game of the series with its beautiful ending that made me cry as a kid...I present to you the mother of all Xbox games....

the being of all creations The alpha and omega.... the game of all time.... I present to you..... BLINX!!!!!!!!!
This game is legendary, amazing gameplay, cool battle system, hard levels, interesting storyline, weird pigs and cats, creepy vibes sometimes...it's the root of my childhood. My cat's name was Blinx...she died though :( she was a good cat and had a lot of kittens ahh...I love this game...I think I'll go play it now.

@Dalph:

Oh my god, how could I have forgotten Legend of Legaia.

That was a mint game, with a great battle-system.

I also digged klonoa - Next to Ape Escape, it's probably my favorite PS1 platformer.

I guess it really depends on what outdated means. If it just means "an old game" than I have tons as I am an old, grumpy lady who clings to her fleet of gaming consoles hoarded since childhood. But a lot of the time, when you look at these old games, you come back to them because there is something about them that made them stand the test of time and would still be a valid thing to do in a game today.

Or is it more a nostalgia thing? No matter your feelings on the Pokemon series, for example. If you look at Gen 1 versus Gen 6 you clearly see how aged Gen 1 is, and I'm not talking about graphics at all here. But many can and do replay it for the nostalgia alone.

For me. Some of my favorite games were the 'collect the things' platform games from the N64. I can replay Banjo Kazooie/Tooie and DK64 like no one's business.

i hated dk64. It seems like a game that should have had organic enviornments in the natural enviornments... And there's f**king pads everywhere! Not to mention there's nothing unique about any of the weapons. Why can't the f**king cocconut and pineapple shooters hit the same damn targets? Edit: and why couldn't they have given overlapping abilities? I'm sure diddy and tiny could walk on platforms that would break under other kongs. And maybe chunky and donkey kong could press switches with there weight no one else could. Maybe diddy and the orangutan king could jump the furthest or something

I'm not hating you for liking it. We all like different things for different reasons, and everybody is different which makes people interesting. It's just I hate DK64

Outdated as in not yet remade/remastered, and from at least three console generations ago? Well, that's how I'm interpreting it.

@Oddball I definitely see how many of the mechanics in DK64 are tedious. I actually would say I prefer Banjo Kazooie because it's not as disruptive. But in general I love games where large overworld exploration suddenly turns into tasks to complete with goodies to grab along the way. I also like the quirky and upbeat nature of these games.

Are we allowed to post about non-RPG Maker games? And, if so, would any of you be interested in a short, proof of concept type non-euclidian puzzle game?
I should realize that error was produced by a outdated version of MZ so that's why it pop up like that
