Just remembered another one - Destrega.

That was an awesome fighting game.

@Oddball I definitely see how many of the mechanics in DK64 are tedious. I actually would say I prefer Banjo Kazooie because it's not as disruptive. But in general I love games where large overworld exploration suddenly turns into tasks to complete with goodies to grab along the way. I also like the quirky and upbeat nature of these games.
you might like xenoblade chroniclesAlthough it has a serious storyline, and moments. It's also quirky and upbeat at times, and has the other qualities you just described

I have played Baldur's Gate and Vampire Bloodlines more times than it should be considered healthy. Other games I've replayed too much are Final Fantasy VI (who hasn't?) and the original 2d Sonic games

Ratchet & Clank Going Commando (beat that at least 10 times), also NBA / NFL Street (1 and 2 for both series). Icewind Dale and Titan Quest are also still fun

I didn't played it much. :p

My favourite Final Fantasy was 12. <3

Ratchet & Clank was outstanding, I agree.

Old Jump'N'Runs like Super Mario World and Sonic The Hedgehog are simply timeless. <3 (\s/)

For me it's probably MegaMan Legends.  I just love that game so much.  Every once in a while I'll bring out my PS2 (Since it plays PS1 games) and play it.  Always takes about 8 hours to beat, and I never do it in one sitting.  Was so sad when they cancelled the third one for 3DS.

Monster Rancher.
I remember seeing my friend playing that game on the PS1. For the time being I remember it looks pretty fun, but I don't remember much aside from the fact that you raise monsters and battle them in some sort of Colosseum. What's the game play actually like?

Oh gosh, I loved R&C3. Finished it like 3 times. Had the best weapons, armour, all the bolts, beat Annihilation Nation, everything. It was insane!

It is mostly about that, raising monsters, training them in different aspects. You can use other game CDs to unlock different monsters. Fusing them to get crossbreeded monsters. Managing their diets, rewarding them but not spoiling them. Conquering the tourneys against stuck-up pompous condescending arseholes. It is kind of a glorified battle Tamagotchi. But yet oh sooo fun.

In Monster Rancher 4 onwards, you can explore dungeons as well with a party of monsters, extending methods of training even further.

I really love the battle system based on distance, the way of training any monster in any way you desire and they still can turn out pretty badass (unlike Pokemon), the variety of monsters... It's one of my favourite games, sadly underrated and eventually never saw a decent sequel since. It could've gone so, so far, it just didn't get as much light shined on it as it should've.

Well, sound like I've been missing out all these years. I'll have to pick a copy of this game up sometime and give it a try. I enjoy studding older game engines.

I'm a big fan of M.U.S.H.A., Gunstar Heroes, Landstalker, Shining Force 2 and Phantasy Star 4 on the Genesis.

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Castlevania 4, Super Mario RPG, Shadowrun, Chronotrigger and Final Fantasy III on the SNES.

R-Type Delta, Einhander, FF9, Symphony of the Night, Brave Fencer Musashi, and way too many more to mention for the PS1 and PS2....

I went through a stage recently when I blasted through a TON of GBA titles because I purchased the Gameboy player for my Gamecube.  I don't normally mess with handhelds but it was a great time experiencing all those Metroid, Zelda and Castlevania games.

In all honesty, with the exception of the newer indie games that I've been digging on lately, MOST of what I play would be considered "outdated".  I still play Turbografx games as well as NES and 90's DOS point and click adventures.  I never really felt the need to play anything beyond the PS2....

Gex: Enter the Gecko.

Also the first Crash Bandicoot, good times man.
I second this. I was more of a N64 kind of guy but I would always enjoy going down the street to my friends house to play "Crash Bandicoot" and "Twisted Metal" with him.

Are we allowed to post about non-RPG Maker games? And, if so, would any of you be interested in a short, proof of concept type non-euclidian puzzle game?
I should realize that error was produced by a outdated version of MZ so that's why it pop up like that
