I actually have played and enjoyed a lot of RPG maker games and lately I have been getting back into the genre and I was looking for recommendations

of some new games to try and I wanted to pose the question:

What was your favorite RPG maker game you've ever played and why?

Again I am asking because I wanted to try out some more of these games and I wanted to see what games you guys have enjoyed!

My personal favorite: Aveyond 2

Why I liked it Aveyond 2: There is no one reason why I liked Aveyond 2 it was just everything about the game was so perfect for me. The simple but cute

graphics, the storyline, the battle system was definitely good and I enjoyed it, and this was the first rpg maker game I'd ever played and how I discovered

the community and all other games of the genre.

This still remain a classic to me. It's one of the game that I had to play with a walkthrough due to its complex but fun puzzles. Not to mention the story itself is amazing.

I grew up with Ahriman's Prophecy. Enjoyed a game before that more but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called and we're talking 2004 then.

Also, I feel the need to mention Phylomortis, if you can navigate through the shakespearean language, it's a good game lol

Charming Homework Salesman gave me many hours of fun and enjoyment. For me it is a sample of almost perfect RPG Maker game (except tilesets and mapping could be some more original). It is a pity that the development has stopped.

Man, how do I pick?

I don't know if I could choose a favorite, but here's some I enjoyed.

  • Aveyond 4 (Better if you play the previous three and the prequel if you can - a lot of its enjoyment is derived from its connections to past games)
  • To the Moon (Excellent story game, and fantastic usage of the engine for something other than an RPG - great from a design perspective, and the story itself is intriguing and touching at times)
  • Homework Salesman (This game is ADDICTING. If you enjoy or can look past crass humor, it's a fun game. I never finished it because it crashed and I lost a ton of progress, but what I did play was entertaining.)

Middens and Gingiva. The collage artist who made them gets a lot of hate for allegedly not producing "real" art, but I love their style. He's making a new game, too.

Don't forget, aspiring writers: Personality isn't what your characters do, it is WHY they do it.
Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
The biggest debate we need to complete on which is better, Waffles or Pancakes?
