Was talking to @JCBrickston yesterday and the topic of game soundtracks came up which got me thinking. We all love the music from the older games, like the FF series and music from SNES/Genesis era. But what about modern soundtracks? So I thought I'd start a topic. List here your favourite game OSTs from games released in the past 5-10 years. Feel free to provide links to your favourite tracks from those OSTs too.

Here are some of mine:

Also, I didn't find any links for it anywhere, but there is a sports game I own that did something completely unique regarding it's music. I have a hockey game called NHL 2K7, and like most sports games it comes packed with a bunch of rock/pop songs that aren't really my cup of tea. However, they went out on a limb and added in something called Cinemotion; which, when you're playing, cues up a full orchestra that changes tunes depending on how good/bad your team is doing. Most of the tunes are extremely pleasant to listen to, and rather memorable. It's almost like a cross between the Star Wars and Home Alone soundtracks at times, which is why my brother and I joke that John Williams secretly came out and scored a hockey game for some reason.

But at any rate, it's the most unique touch I've ever witnessed in a sports game, and I salute that company for incorporating a full film score into their sports action. And to this day I have no idea who the artist is that composed for the game. The game manual has no credits regarding it, and I've found no information online concerning it. It's almost as if a ghost came along and made some really good music, then vanished.

@Ms Littlefish My mother and oldest sister are Guild Wars 2-aholics, haha. They are always singing it's praises and trying to get me to play it with them. So, I actually did once or twice, and I was horrible at it. I created a character modeled after my favorite hockey player, and made him run around and dance in front of people. This went on for several hours, and because of activity like this, I wasn't progressing much when it came to gaining levels. I think I missed the point of the game.

Sadly, I found out that not long after, they deleted my character without me knowing. Now, I will eternally remember how incredible it was to be level 3.

@JCBrickston I don't play very much anymore. Keeping up with an MMO is really difficult these days. But, initially I was also really terrible; kept falling off the very first vista I encountered in the game. I played plenty of the late game and did a ton of guild activities; but despite that it seemed like I spent most of my time blowing up bandits in the Village of Shaemoor to get butter for baking cookies. These days I mostly listen to the OST. XD

@Dalph™ I can't believe I forgot to list Undertale! I love that soundtrack.

@JCBrickston - Guild wars is free to play with no walls or pay to win elements (except the expansion stuff).  So you could always try again. :)

And yes, @Quigon has given the factually correct.  Bloodborne is the god of orchestra and choir (heck even the more "worse" songs beat out the top 10 of all time orchestra songs from all the other games).  Say what you want about the game itself, but the soundtrack has touched the hearts of millions and has spawned so many remixes from artists (that also sound better than most other games dream of being at there best).

But since listing a god is basically cheating...

Here is a amazing song from Zero Time Dilemma:

Hey, didn't expect so many replies. Awesome!

I notice some of these OSTs are huge, going into multiple hours (one has 10 hours). Do the games themselves contain that many songs? I'm unfamiliar with many of these games (most heard of but never played).

@Dalph™ Lol. That Bastion track is the one that plays during your favourite part, right? Good choice on Darksiders 2 track. I like that one a lot too, as well as the Guardian boss theme.

I actually like the whole OST of Bastion, but if I have to choose then I would pick that specific track because it's very emotional. :p

I like the Guardian Boss theme of Darksiders 2 too, but sadly it's not part of the OST (what the hell they were even thinking by not adding that awesome theme? urgh). That game is wonderful btw, too bad it was totally unappreciated.

To clarify what @Quigon said, 1 hour and fiftyish minutes of pure heaven.

To call BB OST music would be an insult to it's godlike incandescent sun like status.

@Dalph™ - DarkSiders 2 is a THQ game, thus is 100% guaranteed to be underrated.  THQ had too much pride to rely on big paychecks to reviewers (seriously, look at all these lawsuits constantly coming out, like the last one with WB and Shadows of Mordor).

The Bravely series is really good, even with a different composer for the second entry.

And if we are allowed to go back as far as 2011 with Skyward Sword, I'd through in Radiant Historia as well.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
