For those saying there is no new RTP, really? Yes, some of it is "recycled", but look at these screenshots of maps from the trailer. I already see so much new stuff that it makes me excited to see what else there is.

I'm also really excited to see if the positioning aspect of the generator carries over to the mapping system. If they've given us the ability to be able to precision place pieces in the generator, hopefully they've done the same for tiles.
Wait.. is the door half the size of a window?? :rswt

You want a bad joke? :kaocry:
Here: What if "SAKAN", "MADO" and "GENE" can be included right into "RPG Maker MZ"? :yhappy:

I had a thought about it, plus more body formats by default (beast man experience), light tool and some more. I am glad I did not bet it with my friends. I kept my coins. :LZSjoy:

I don't want to be too egotistical, but honestly it's because I don't think JP side of marketing has anyone equivalent to me or Archeia who are always involved in the community and know RM really well.

Most of the JP side people who know RM really well are dev team not marketing.

(Also, I'm probably much more pushing the boundaries on what I can say than their side is >_>)

We're super glad to have you guys, you both rock

Also, here is a quick drop of another menu that was visible in the trailer in EN. I think everyone had gathered what that extra box was for, but here you go:

Also yeah, I quite like that face. He's a cool looking dude. Anyway, I'm gonna grab some breakfast cause I haven't eaten anything yet. Back in a bit.

Well, tbf, there are doors half the size of windows in all the other RTP sets. But, I think it looks more odd here with the way the screens were angled in the video.

Well, I'm really excited to use this new RPG Maker, but I think I'll only buy it once I finish my last two projects on MV, so I can move forward with no regrets. I think I will never open MV again once I start using MZ. That's what happened with VX Ace, once I start using MV.

It's one of those 1 tile high doors. I'm guessing there are taller doors available, just like there have been in previous RTPs.

I'm happy that we no longer have to use plug-ins so we can have nameboxes. I agree with you, he's a cool looking dude. :D

That's the right thing to do. Finish what you got going on in the maker you started them in. Even big name companies don't usually change engines mid or late development, and those that do usually end up with a mess as the change is rushed to meet the release date.

I wouldn't worry about size tbh.
We are talking about a 2D engine here, where character sprites are almost as tall as trees and houses look much smaller from outside, besides, windows bigger than doors do exist, lol.
I'm for tallish sprites too but I can live with the chibi look.

Dude in Touchfuzzy's screen looks like he could use spear in battle rather than a sword, dunno why.
I have this impression, maybe it's the long hair, protagonists usually have short hair and use swords, lol.
Kudos on the namebox inbuilt.

He sorta reminds me of Zhao Yun from Dynasty Warriors. lol.

New text input, probably a nametag box?
View attachment 148116
The box on the lower left reads "Name" so yes, it's a nametag box. The other options say "window" (assuming options are window, dim, none) and "Window position" (set to down) and then there's a preview button. So exactly the same as MV but with a nametag option added.

Ah whatever, take my money.
This facesets are really great, they remind of the ones of another Program (dont know if Im allowed to name it).
But i wonder if Degica maybe hired the same Artist.
Anyway the facesets are wonderful, love it.

<3 Hoping there are some other add ons to the message system as well like more text codes we can use and such, but the Name box...I can't help but love that tiny feature XD

Also I like that guy :3 He actually looks like an OC of mine, but not one planned for a video game ;_; I'm all for using blue haired guys tho XD

I think Phantasy Star IV got me started with my love of blue haired video game dudes.

AHHHHHH Phantasy Star <3 I actually have to finish playing IV as I 'just' got my hands on it (like last year or two on Steam and haven't had time to play) I actually bought the sega pack with it for the Switch just to have a better chance of playing it. I played 1-3 on the Game Boy Advance as a kid but...like the series was already older by the time I got my hands on it. It's inspired a lot of my work too.

And on topic.....I am still waiting for that release date and pre-order button :p

MV was already updated for Trinity, and IMHO it would be absolutely bonkers to update the engine and just like...Roll it back. Especially with such core features almost everyone downloads plugins for the moment they start a game.

So, here's a masterpost of functions that are confirmed, tangentially probably-confirmed, and what from MV Trinity we might be able to expect.

INFO DRIP:
+4 layers of map editing
+Event palette
+ :( we were starving

CONFIRMED IN TRAILER:
+Offset in character creator
+Dialogue box name options
+Strange tileset hues; probably a tileset hue editor
+Animation speed options
+Visual & Sound effects on battle animation separated

VALIDATED (BUT OTHERWISE UNCONFIRMED) LEAKS:
+ Easy screen and UI size editing, easy font/letter size editing (good for accessibility toggles in options!)
+4 layers of map drawing, can use all the tilesets on every layer. Huge improvement over XP
+Timed battle system with character faces
+Comes parcelled with clickable button plugin
+Comes parcelled with picture-in-text plugin
+EFFEKSEEKER compatible
+PIXI updated
+Battle types are turn, ATB, and Wait Time, and can be used in both side and front view
+Autosave tickbox

WAS IN MV TRINITY:
+ 8-Directional movement
+ Word wrap
+ Editable title screen
+ Battle Results page customization
+ Set Move path visual guide
+ More event triggers (more than double; has stuff like "on player approach" etc
+ FOREGROUND PARALLAX BABYYYYY

INFO WE DON'T HAVE:
-System2 (this covers the vastest range of new functions)
-Animation update
-Exact Range of RTP
-Hinted underlying information not yet indicated by either trailer or leaks
-Where me pre-order

Didn't know about those MV Trinity enhancements but I hope they're also included here. As you said, it'd make no sense to roll back. They all seem to be pretty useful features that should be included without the need of plugins. Move routes for example is something that almost didn't change since the start of the series, it needs an improvement already.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
