Plugins: Is it just me, or is there an over-reliance on these things? I'm part of the RPG Maker 2003 old guard. We made everything with events! Full on ABS systems and all sorts. One dude made Pong, with accurately calulcated angles and everything! Don't get me wrong, I love the stuff Yanfly, Galv, Hime Works and other have put as much as the next guy but plugins aren't the answer to everything.
Maybe you're going to change your mind once you can actually make one.

Depending on the price, it might be worth getting MZ just for the RTP if the art is done well enough, particularly for the enemy images because one can never have too many enemies. :hswt:

Can't really give that info, but I can say that every single announce from this point out will contain new feature announces (and when they stop containing new feature announces, I'll be free to talk about anything people want to ask me).

Won't be the last, just won't be any more announces that don't open up more to talk about. Every announce after this point will let me come on here and actually discuss parts of the maker with people.

I do not believe that there will be a second official video. And if something big hasn't already been in the first one, nothing big will be waiting for us.

And by big I mean a gamechanger, nothing you can add with plugins like a name box...

Just a show of hands though, on the subject of the improved animations editor: How many of you out there with 8 thousand unreleased projects kept putting off making their animations cause it was annoying and something you'd "do later" and then never got around to it?

Depending on who you ask, some folks were waiting around 10+ years to experience Kingdom Hearts 3 before it finally came out. While I do not subscribe to that thought process (because I waited only 5 years, due to not expecting anything until the title was finally announced), those people had a much worse wait than we do.
I'm the one and KH3 turned out to be HUGE disappointment. I hope new Maker won't be tho.

@Touchfuzzy, you shouldn't take them all seriously. There always will be people complaining. Just keep up the good work! We really appreciate all you do for the community.

They didn't even really show new 4 manual layers mapping system and that's something you really want to announce after 15 years of absence (last seen in XP). They may still hide something cool.

Animations are the WORST!

But I typically like to make very quick animations. I hate slow ass animations that just slow the game. This is why action sequences bore me to tears.

Big explosions, enemy dead, move on...

Must be because I'm a black mage on FF14....

Oh absolutely. I even bought several animation packets for both VX (Ace) and MV via Steam and never touched the things because I found the animation editors to fiddely, if you know what I mean... I'm not very artistically talented, so the usability improvements make me extremely happy and I'm absolutely looking forward trying out making my own animations this time around.

Must be because I'm a black mage on FF14....

From the impression I have so far, I think I'd try to import it to MV before I even consider buying the MZ.

I think KH3 turned out just fine. The problem was all the hype surrounding it. It was never going to live up to the expectations people had for it. But I had the most fun I've ever had in a KH game with KH3, even though I still hold KH2FM as the superior title.

@Touchfuzzy, I have one question for you. How do you like the RTP?

I'm just wondering what kind of aspect you want to import, to be honest. You probably can't export the editor. And by having a different editor, the database structure is going to be changed. And if you mean the base library (as in the implementation of PIXI and all), you sure still can.

Ok, so remember of course that this is all personal opinion and not me talking as a representative of the company: Some parts I like more than MV, some parts I don't like as much. But a lot of that is personal taste and not a statement on quality.

Luckily, I don't exactly have to choose, as the parts that I don't like as much as the MV versions are completely compatible with MZ so I can just borrow from those. Or use some of the many amazing bits found on the forums that were made for MV (like icons, so many icons)

I really would like Pixel Movement/off grid movement, but after all the info and leaks I think I'll need to wait for some plugin. Which sucks, cuz all my project uses on map combat system made with events and those are horrible when you can only move on grid. = I'll have to stick with MV for a bit longer.

The lack of FF characters, stupid plot, just one story in every world (you know, not coming back to worlds like in previous games) etc ruined it for me. Combat was good, rest was totally meh.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
