They can pronounce however they choose to, but they chose to name the product M. Z. Which, in English, is "Em Zee."

If they choose to pronounce it with ZED, then the correct way is Mike Zed. Then MV would have to be Mike Victor.

Isn't Zed just an alternative way of pronouncing Z when it's being used as part of the name of something? Kind of like Japanese people pronouncing it Zetto, which is probably the case here too.

Mmh, in NATO alphabet, Z would be Zulu, not zed, though.

Also, in British English, Z is often pronounced as Zed - and in MZ's country of origin (beautiful dango land), the roman letter Z is pronounced as "zetto", which would explain why touchfuzzy was the only one in his group pronouncing it "zee".

Also, saying zee instead of zed helps the reptilian underlords of the deep dark below in their never ending quest to subjugate the surface people.

...

I should go to bed. Nighty night.

We'll have to make sure when we do our bombastic retro trailer for MZ that we tell them to say AR PEE GEE MAKER EEEEM ZEEEED.

Actually legit I would have so much fun mimicking those old XP/VX commercials.

Reading Touchfuzzy's comment again, probably they called it Em-Zed because of japanese pronunciation. MZ in japanese would sound like "emzetto", hence the Em-Zed Touchfuzzy was razzed about.
If you were wondering MV would sound in japanese as "embooee"
Em-Zed probably sounds more natural in Asia in general. I've been calling it Em-Zed as well before realizing that many thought that sounds weird. And I'm not even Japanese.

If only they were based in Ireland, it could be "Or-pee-gee" Maker.

I actually played a game once that had it's cutscenes localized only with subtitles so I actually know what you mean by "zetto".

EDIT: Also, I'm out until morning so my next comment on "EmZed" will probably not be coming until the next discussion is underway. Wow me good, guys.

Little tidbit: It's apparently pronounced Em-Zed.

I was the only American in a voice meeting last night, and I got razzed pretty hard for calling it Em-Zee :p :p.

How very... Canadian of them? (Canada is the only place I've heard Zed personally)

@?????? I believe they coordinate with HQ which is on a massive time difference. So as of when I wrote this it would be 11:06am there and 9:06pm where I live (and that's just comparing between JP time and CDT, so @Touchfuzzy is probably like 7:06pm if I recall correctly). Do the math.

All it will take is a second to double check the forum you're about to post in. People just need to slow down a little.

Won't happen, for two reasons. 1 - A lot of people don't check where they're posting now - why would they suddenly start when MZ is released? And 2 - A lot of people can't find the MV support forum now, because it's in the "latest game development engines" section and not listed further down on the page with all the other versions, so when MZ is released it will take MV's place at the top, and MV will be shoved down with the others. In addition, I think when people see MV (because they'll find that more easily) they'll just post in there assuming they're the same thing, or close enough because Z is nearly V (see Em Zee vs Em Zed discussions)

We'll have to make sure when we do our bombastic retro trailer for MZ that we tell them to say AR PEE GEE MAKER EEEEM ZEEEED.

Do it! Do it! Do it!

Come to think of it... Why didn't they call it MX? I MEAN COME ON, X IS TOTALLY RAD!

It's R..P...UH...G MX, BROS! The trickiest engine out there that's Xross platform. Just don't add two additional X's Then we're getting into weird territory and an engine most certainly not for kids.

Canadian here, and I definitely say Zee, not Zed, although Zed does not feel unnatural to me.
Another Canadian here. I grew up saying Zee, but our English is supposed to be Zed. I generally consider myself Americanized from to much T.V.
(Canada is the only place I've heard Zed personally)
Several countries have their English with Zed. First and foremost is Great Britain with Canada and Australia. But that all makes sense as we are colonized countries with British colonists. (several other countries as well of course). *not that I know my history. *ahem, shutting up now.

Why'd I think you were in Cali? At least now I know you're the same time zone as me. And I WON'T be up at 3am for that, no thanks....well, maybe I will, but not on the computer...toddler girl likes to wake up in the middle of the night wanting to sleep with Hubby and I....(insert my rambling about motherhood)

Programming languages are amazing.

Someone needed help with a problem in C#. I've got 0 experience in C#. I read 0 lines of their code. I only knew what they wanted to do. I wrote a completely generic code in Javascript containing the generic answer. But they understood what I was doing and translated that to their code. 20 seconds later, problem solved.
been using ChatGPT to write a new story. I told it to :
generate a word like gundam for a false prophet super AI

it answered :
"NOVUS" as an acronym for "New Omnipotent Virtual Unit for Synthetics"? sounds similar to "gnosis," which is a term associated with knowledge and spiritual enlightenment, fitting the theme of a false prophet.
