Greetings, RPGM forums

I am here to ask You, the forumites, what they would like to see in this project of mine, the Armymen Tactical Role playing Game, this is just a poll so please message me with Your opinion or ideas and when I get results, I will post them on My page here at the RPGM forum.

The following are ideas to the game play mechanics;

__________
Storyline 1-3
__________

1.Should all sides be playable or do You think only the Green Nation should have a campaign?

2.Should it be Sandbox Discover the plot as You go or Linear Storyline progression?

3. Should puzzles and other non-combat orientated game play be employed or just action?

____________________________
Party & Resource Management 4-6
____________________________

4. Should Certain weapons be reserved to classes (IE; SMG & Bazooka to the Bazooka man) or should anyone be allowed to use any weapon?

5. Should this game include universal Ammo source or different ammo types for different weapons?

6. should the Bazooka, mortar and Grenade launcher have Ammo gauges like small arms or draw straight from the pool?

________________
Combat System 7-9
________________

7. Should an Animated battle system or standard Battle system be employed?

8. Should Vehicles be employed for battle or only as transportation?
*note the game will include tanks and other vehicles as Enemies.

9. Should Perma-death be employed in-game or should the Party be able to revive any time?

Your thoughts are greatly welcome in this matter, Thank You.

It sounds like you want others to make your design decisions for you.  I'm not convinced that's a good idea.  Design by random committee could mean that there is no coherent vision of the game, and what experience you, the developer, want to give to the player.

For example, just take item (9).  That decision would have profound implications for how the whole game is designed, would possibly restrict your audience to a niche (perma-death is far from universally popular), and cannot be decided in isolation from other considerations.  Just consider it in relation to item (2), for example.

Asking here will mean that you will quite possibly get opposing preferences given to you.  How are you going to decide between them?  Given that it will be quite arbitrary who will see and answer this thread, how will you know if those views are representative?

I think that you will get a much more coherent game if you decide those major issues yourself - after all, it is you that has to have the passion and commitment to take on the long term work needed to pull off this sort of game, and so you are the one who has to believe in this project whole-heartedly.

My intent was to make this game for everyone, giving them a chance to voice their opinion and get an idea on what they would like to see in it, deciding between them would be determined based on two or more votes, if none are given I would simply continue on the current course, if one or more vote in favour of a element is given, I would change that part to an idea I have based on it, it would still be My design choice but it would be closer to what other players would like, this response wasn't what I predicted. however it is what I needed, I have forgone a important rule of Mine, "seeking to please everyone will not please anyone". You're right, I must decide this for myself and having this come from a person who appears, based on Your profile anyway, has already developed games makes this advice even more powerful.

Thus I will continue the games development on it's current course, Thank You for talking/texting some sense into Me, ksjp17, I clearly needed this.

Now if it pleases the forum, I must take My leave, I have work to do.

You may close this discussion at Your discretion and leisure.

I understand that, it's just, everyone will have their different opinions on the matter, and if you try to get an opinion from everyone about their design choices, your game will get nowhere. As well, Nobody will be "pleased" if you leave the forums. And if you want a topic closed, report your opening post.

Well...I agree with ksjp that in the end you still gotta make the final calls. But if you want my two cents, here goes:

1. At least 2 sides, because this has kinda a RTS feel to it actually.

2. Sandbox will probably take too long for you to do so I say linear. Especially if more than one campaign.

3. I think you should focus on Action and battle tactics.

4. In real life any soldier should be able to handle most weapons. But maybe specialists get additional bonuses.

5. Different broad types of ammo would be nice, don't be too detailed.

6. Not exactly sure what you mean here...

7. Animated

8. Battling vehicles sounds cool! If you can pull it off.

9. Permdeath. It IS war after all.

Okay, let's start from the beginning.

What is the Green Nation and who else plays a role in your world?

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
