So in Final Fantasy 7 there's this secret character who joins your party. She randomly appears in certain area in the map as a random encounter and defeating her takes you to a special scene where you'll be able to talk to her. If you fail in dialogues, she escapes and you'll have to find her and fight her again in another random encounter. If she joins your party, you'll never randomly fight her ever again for obvious reasons.

I'd like a plugin that would allow for something akin to this.

I think that you can do this by events.

There IS a way, but I'm too busy working on my project to explain it for you. Sorry.

Uh, aside from doing two seperate worlds and then change between depending on the conditions, I don't think so. And no, I won't make dublicate worlds for that reason as it'd increase the filesize of the game a lot. (And yes, my world map is about 65 times larger in file size than any other map) My map is not small and I don't want to always do any changes I have to do twice, just to check if the thing is working.

Plus I'd have to change every single map in my game to check if the conditional has been met or not, which is like over 130 maps at the moment. Plus, how would I be able to check after the scene to what part in map the player had been before unless I also add memorize player location to every walkable tile that can have her be encounter as well? How would you transition to the scene after the fight, a switch at her having immortal and then common event? All of this on a huge world map of mine  (230x180 with numerous events, 615 as of writing this) would cause immense load and potential slowdowns, even on high end computer.

I'm sorry but I'd rather not go this really clunky eventing route and I think plugin would function a lot better. Eventing it would require TONS of work and most likely wouldn't be nearly as smooth.

Personally I would go this route:

I would add a hidden battler to those random troops, appearing in the area where she's found. As long as the player hasn't met her, you have a switch on that triggers following battle event right at the beginning:

In this example the player has a chance of 1 out of 100 to encounter your character. This is not only a pretty simplistic approach, but your player will be surprised if the enemies get killed by the one character he was looking for so long :)

If you want a scene like Yuffies after the battle, you could add another switch triggering a common event that transfers you to a special map or something.

Nah, Galv's method is a lot better and closer to what I need, with the plugin I can basically replicate the whole thing completely the way I want. Plus this method you provided wouldn't actually stop the same enemy from appearing again in random encounters (because you actually have it listed as requirement for the switch to be on, instead of simply making a conditional fork in the if switch Yuffie's in party is off, then do this stuff) and I don't like the disconnect of the secret character killing random monsters before going into your battle. (Not to mention 1 to 100 is ridiculously low chance and could have you literally play the game 20 hours and never see her :distrust: )

Never mind then :)

Of course you could alter the chances of her appearing in battle by altering the numbers to your likings. My 1/100 chances was just for showing purpose.

And yes, while the player will encounter that troop again, as long as you turn off the "character not yet in party" switch, the player will experience the encounter like any other random encounter without Yuffie killing them (or appearing at all) :)

Problem with your approach is that it's not true random encounter of herself but rather as her becoming part of troop of other enemies. Which would be really weird to see bunch of slimes then oops they die and here's a secret character instead on their spot, instead of you seeing the secret character from the start. Design wise, I don't really like that choice as it could even be taken that the enemies joined to make the secret character or something.

I wonder why she wants to follow Galv's offer instead of Lestroth and mine's. Maybe because I'm just not that famous?

...well, I think i'll go have a walk with Mima.

Have fun with Galv's Random Encounter plugin.  ;_;

Tuomo explained why they didn't want to use evented methods, nevermind the fact that you didn't even offer an explanation or solution, as you were too busy.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
