Can you explain what your battle system is? You will basically need to provide all of the rules as well since a battle system based on a specific card game cannot function properly without knowing the rules, gameplay, etc.

"yugioh-style" does not mean anything unless you are actually making a fangame based on that game.

Uh, I'm sorry, I have no idea what Yu-Gi Oh is and how to play it...

I'm joking. Anyways, you have to be more specific and detailed. It may sound tedious, but the scripter has to know what's in it because they might do the script wrong, plus, they don't want to follow empty guidelines and have to create them themselves.

I can fill you in for what the battle would be like.

I presume by "Yu-gi-oh style" he would want:

A feature that allows players to edit a deck of at least 40 cards and a max of 60 cards, with no more than 3 copies of the same card.

This feature would also include an "Extra Deck" where Synchro, Fusion and Xyz monsters would be to a max of 15.

As well as a "Side Deck" where up to 15 cards can be stored and traded between the main deck between battles.

There are 3 types of cards, being: Monsters, Spells and Traps.

Monsters can be expanded into: Normal Monsters, Effect Monsters, Spirit Monsters, Toon Monsters, Gemini Monsters, Tuner Monsters, Synchro Monsters, Xyz Monsters, Fusion Monsters, Ritual Monsters and Union Monsters.

Every monster has a type which can be: Aqua, Beast, Beast-Warrior, Dinosaur, Divine-Beast, Dragon, Fairy, Fiend, Fish, Insect, Machine, Plant, Psychic, Pyro, Reptile, Rock, Sea-Serpent, Spellcaster, Thunder, Warrior, Winged-Beast or Zombie.

Every monster has an attribute which can be: Dark, Divine, Fire, Earth, Light, Water or Wind

Every monster has a level between 1 and 12, except for Xyz monsters that have ranks instead of levels.

Every monster has an ATK and a DEF stat.

Spells can be expanded to: Normal Spells, Equip Spells, Quick-Play Spells, Ritual Spells, Field Spells and Continuous Spells.

And I give up at this point, I haven't even gotten to a fraction of the rules or mechanics.

Even at this point it would be super hard to code everything, a Yu-Gi-Oh system in RPG Maker would take years to complete.

I think it would take less than a month. Like around 100-200 hours of work?

The game mechanics are pretty simple from what it sounds.

That said, if someone's expecting to pay someone $20 for this sort of thing, good luck with that.

Note that there is an online MMO called yugioh online 3 that has a lot of card samples to work with.

Oh you have it completely wrong, the mechanics are much more complex than what I put down.

You've got things like trigger effects, trigger-like effects, continuous effects, quick effects, Spell speeds 1, 2 and 3.

Xyz Summoning, Synchro Summoning, Fusion Summoning, Ritual Summoning, Card Costs as opposed to effects,

effect timings I.E. "When", "If", "You can" etc. what cards can be chained to what other cards, how "Sending to the grave" and "Tributing" are not the same as "Destroying" or "Discarding". How "Return" is different to "Summon", how "Flip" is different to "Flip Summon", How "Field Conditions" or "Monster Conditions" are different to "Effects", How negation works, how battle damage works, how loops work, how infinite loops work, how effect damage works etc. etc.

If someone wants to play Yu-Gi-Oh that bad that they want to make a whole RPG maker on it, then they should really just consider games like Dueling Network, YGOpro etc.

if it's basic yugioh battle (according to season 1 rules). then scripter like hime might able to do that less in a month. but if you want season 2, season 3, and even season 4 feature. (synchro, exceed summon, etc). then it might different.

also rather than exact copy of yugioh. maybe something like card battle that 'look' like yugioh would be more feasible.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
