Hey-o! Zebestian here with some music to share! I've been composing for a little over four years now and I wanna show you what I've made so far and what I'm capable of. I'm also planning on making these available as resources at some point later on. I'll make sure to let you know and post something over in the resource section when the time comes. But for now: music! :kaojoy:

What I'm gonna do is put these into spoilers and include a little description telling you something about the track and the creation process. I think it's good to know how something came into being and what the original intent was. And since I'm kinda splitting my uploads between YouTube and SoundCloud, some of these are going to be Youtube videos while others are going to be Soundcloud players. Just as a little heads-up~

"Palace of the Tides" was the first one in my recent temple series of soundtracks. As you can obviously tell by the title, this is supposed to be a water temple theme. I tried to go for a mysterious, somewhat floaty feeling by mainly using piano, harp, flute and steel drums.

"Unbearable Heat" is the second one of my temple themes and unmistakably a fire temple theme - at least by name it is. I think what I like most about this one is the combination of spiccato strings and brass swells in the second half. Drums and lead sitar form the rest.

A rather peaceful forest theme I started months ago and finished recently. Mainly uses pizzicato strings and woodwinds. I also threw in a marimba and horns for good measure. I'm basically using all the wood for this forest theme (with some additions to make it more colourful~)!

"Nature's Nastiness" is, as you can maybe tell by the similar titles, the "sequel" to "Nature's Grace". It's the nasty side deep within the quiet forest - the forest temple. I kept the pizzicato strings and marimba to tie them thematically but this time I used a choir, heavy drums and some shouts to create an atmosphere of danger.

"Cold Emptiness" is the most recent addition to my temple series. I tried to create a soundtrack that makes you feel cold without using the cliché sleigh bells that you find in basically every snow/ice/winter theme. And actually, it was quite easy to avoid those sleigh bells because I thought they didn't really fit with the overall sound of this theme. It's supposed to make you feel cold and lost. Sleigh bells don't really do that for me.

I know, it's a rather weird name. But I'm trying to avoid cliché names and naming tropes as much as possible when I'm naming my soundtracks. I try to be creative not only during composing but also before and after! This one is, obviously, a battle theme. I haven't really composed a lot of battle themes even though I think they're fun to make. This is my most recent battle theme which is very heavy on strings, brass and drums. And I think the shouts add a nice touch to it (especially the "fight" shout at the beginning).

I made this for a streamer and let's player I like to watch to use during her laid-back and chill hangout streams as background music. She was complaining about all the music she liked being copyrighted and that she'd really like some guaranteed royalty-free music to use. So I offered her to make a jazz theme (without really ever having made a jazz theme before). But I think I did quite well!

A nice, mysterious-sounding blues theme that sounds like detective agency or investigation or your typical visual novel background music. Anyway, this is one of my favourites I made so far. And it's not just because I like the blues scale so much. XD

Alrighty, that's gonna be it for now. Once I finished something new I'll be sure to put it in here for your listening pleasure! But I think eight is a good start and should keep you entertained for a little while~! See you on the next update!

*does the happy update dance* :kaosalute:
I got something for you guys. I finished a weeks old draft last night and wanted to share the results. I'm also gonna throw in one of my more recent works because of thematic similarities. I'm gonna put these in spoilers again, just to keep everything organized!:kaojoy:

This is the draft I finished last night. I didn't really have a clear concept or theme in mind when I made this so I don't really know what this could be used for. What I'm thinking of when I listen to it though is some sort of secret organization that operates in the dark. Maybe a character theme for their members?
Made this about a week ago to test out the Roland SoundCanvas VA. Basically, this is a virtual instrument version of a whole bunch of Roland's MIDI sound modules. Those things could be used to play video game music on old DOS and Windows games but were hella more expensive than something like the AdLib. I really enjoy the sound of the Roland modules and I plan on making more songs with them!

As always, enjoy listening and until the next update!

You are really, really amazing! I like very much of each piece. One question: what program did you use for this? ('Cause, I use the Finale, but I don't know if I need to change)

Wow, thank you for your kind words~! :kaothx:
To answer your question: I'm using FL Studio Producer Edition and a variety of instrument libraries by Native Instruments. Mainly Kontakt 5, Symphonic Essentials, Action Drums and The Grandeur. :kaojoy:

Hey Zeb, I'm enjoying your music. What I'm not sure of, is how it could be applied in a Maker game. Most of the audio files I've seen for use in a Maker game are much shorter and loop. Now, I'm certainly no expert, I haven't delved into excessive edits, though I recorded and mixed my band's music from the 90s, and I'm sure I could edit using Audacity, just trying to be helpful with a little constructive criticism. If your compositions are shorter and already mixed to loop endlessly, that would be helpful. :)

Loved the sitar in Unbearable heat, by the way. :)

If you pay close attention while listening you might notice that pretty much all of my songs (there's one or two exceptions to this) actually loop after about 1-2 minutes. "Unbearable Heat" for example loops at around 1:37/1:38.
I think that video game soundtracks don't really need to be longer than 2:30 minutes unless you can actually justify having a piece that long in your game (I'm thinking of Final Fantasy VI's Dancing Mad which consists of multiple parts, used for the final boss). So in a way, my pieces are short and loop. The only difference between these pieces and the ones in RM is that I edited these ones for listening outside of games, not for use in games. If I were to do that they'd be shorter and loop indefinitely.
Hope that shed some light on the situation~! :kaojoy:

Yep. And you have a wonderful gift if you've been creating for only 4 years. I struggled to make anything decent sounding for the first few years (and probably always, lol) when I played and wrote songs regularly. I have a few songs I would put up against anything, but the majority of my old songs were mediocre at best.

To be honest, I wish I had started way earlier than that so that I could've actually chosen a proper career path. I mean, I'm fine with majoring in Sociology but going to a conservatory to study music is something I really want to do. But since I'm not really particularly good at playing any instrument, that's kinda off the table. That's also why I'm self-taught by the way. XD
And don't worry about "being bad" or "mediocre". Everyone is starting somewhere. You think that I find that my music is the pinnacle of all things? Far from it. There's so many people who I admire and aspire to be like! And that's why I keep going~! :kaopride:

Time for a tiny update!:kaosalute:
Here's something I made for the RPG Maker MV School project that's going on here. I read about it, saw they were looking for music for it and just had to whip something up! It's really scary how fast I can get things done when inspiration strikes.:kaoblush:

I thought I'd show off one of my old ones too since you really have to dig to find these (or you just look at my "Old Stuff" playlist on SoundCloud). This was one of my first uploads on SoundCloud and I wanna say my first legit composition. Everything else that came before was just fooling around. Gotta say, it's interesting to look back at how I started off!:kaoswt:

What time is it? Say it with me! Update time!:kaohi:
This one is quite interesting, actually. No, not because of the name! I just wanted to do something different there and it sounded better in Japanese than it did in English. It's interesting because I started it a few months ago and only finished it recently. Normally, I don't have big gaps like that in my creation processes. But it still turned out well, I think!:kaojoy:

"Ryūsha no Majin" (translation: Devil of the Flowing Sands) is a boss battle theme. One that, obviously, plays in a desert area during the battle against the title-giving devil. Who or what that devil is, is entirely up to you (I just chose a MonHun monster because it looked cool).

It is the time of the update!:kaohi:
I've been on some kind of slump lately so I'm glad I actually managed to start and finish something. I'm not gonna lie, when came back to this one after a couple of days I could not figure out how to freaking continue it. Took me a few tries and a lot of time but I'm pretty content with the end result. Plus, this is the first battle theme I composed with the Roland Sound Canvas VA~!:kaojoy:

Update time again!:kaohi:
Been in a church organ mood as of late so I decided to make something using the church organ - and I decided to make a neat little boss battle theme. Since I'm a big fan of "unusual" battle themes, my battle themes tend to sound quite different from what you would normally expect in an RPG. However, I still think this one works quite well and who doesn't like church organs~?:kaojoy:

Let's do the update again!:kaohi:
So, I've been messing around with modes a little bit just to get a feel for how they sounded and how I can modify them. And while doing that, like so often, I came up with a little something and had to continue and build on it. And that's how this theme came into being. I didn't have any idea what this was going to turn out to be but apparently I've made some sort of ruins/dungeon theme~!:kaojoy:

Happy, happy update!:kaohi:
So, after a long-ass time I finally got a commission again! I know, it's crazy isn't it?! Anyway I was asked to compose a town theme for a village that's nearly deserted and rumoured to be dangerous. I decided to change things up a little and use the guitar for this one. I clearly don't use the guitar enough, do I? Maybe I should use it more in the future~!:kaojoy:

Tiny update time!:kaohi:
I was a little bored earlier, so I messed around in FL a bit and ended up making a dungeon theme for some reason. No idea why it ultimately became a dungeon theme. I gotta say, sometimes it's nice to just do stuff without a plan or a general idea~!:kaojoy:

Oh my goodness, I love your style! I like how clean it is. You clearly have a solid theme for each piece that's reflected in all your choices. I don't even think I would have needed the titles and descriptions to understand your inspiration for each one.

Wowie! Such kind words really make my day~! And it's good to hear that my songs are reflecting my inspiration and intentions so well. It all comes down to using the right instruments with the right key or mode. Video game music is filled with tropes and I'm trying to combine those with my style to create something new!:kaojoy:

I'm listening to iiluminaughtii talking about the secrets behind shady businesses and scams. Meanwhile I'm writing a fanfic about Sephiroth from FF7, one specifically for my stepmom. I'll get to give it to her, too, because my boss said I could take the holidays off! Dec. 22-27 I will be in Orlando, and maybe Fort Myers too, visiting my dad and stepmom!
Of course, I bought a handful of games on the Steam Black Friday sale. Will I try them? Will I complete any? Who knows...

No more spam from me today, I promise! Just wanted to upload this, people have been giving me feedback that my weapon sprites (which were RTP) clashed badly with my battlers for ages, so today I finally took the plunge and updated them! Really happy with how they came out :D :D
