question:

Which codec + compression is the best in quality with small filesize - and no need of additional codec software or anything to install?

i think that infos would help some people out (like me).

i can make a wmv out of an avi, no quality loss, but less than 1/20 of the filesize. But wmv is not accepted by the script.

I do not know what you mean, Zeus... ..

I play XviD videos on my computer , only the script will not accept.

Does XviD work for you? If so, can you tell me how? thank you =D

 

And yes, it WOULD be Great if WMV videos would work. Why do they not? Or maybe mpg?

XviD works for me that's why I tell you to install the codec.


If it works on your computer it's probably decoded by your player, or ffdshow.


For a sure compatibility we can use the old DivX3, but it kinda sucks.


For quality XviD is good, but we can also use h264.

Hey Zeus or anyone who might me able to help...I was able to load the video I want to use but the problem is that it's being played super fast!!! The video is about 1 minute long but plays through the entire thing in about 3 seconds!!! Any ideas anyone?

You may try to add : MciSendString.call('set VIDEO speed 1000', 0, 0, 0)

on line 44, just after : MciSendString.call('play VIDEO', 0, 0, 0)

Script gets no error... But when it goes to play the screen just goes black for half a second, then nothing..

Probably a missing codec, this script depends on what is installed on your computer.

Yes, that's why it's better to use old ones like divx3 even if they're not the best in the world, at least they should work for everyone.

Hello Alby, it's probably a codec problem as always, I recommend using divX3/mp3 encoding, they are the worst codecs for quality but at least it should work for everyone.

So I've opened up the script editor, and found Main... do I put it in the one above Main then? I really don't know how to put scripts into the game. 'Scene_Debug'? -_- I'm sorry if I'm being a problem.

Yes between Scene_Debug and Main.

You press right click on Main then Insert.

You name it Zeus Video Player and you paste the code inside the editor.

Hey just one thing....have a feeling its a codec issue but I hope not. Hoping its just somthing I need to change in the script or what ever.

Ok, so I got the video to play etc which is amaze balls!! Only it plays the sound for half the vid but not for the other half???

Its not a long video as its only about 5 seconds long. If i play the video seperately on the pc its fine. volume plays all the way through but RMXP cant seem to play all of it.

It plays the footage all the way through just not the sound.

If theres an easy fix to these I will scream and give you a biscuit!!

Well for sound problems maybe you can reencode it in mp3 with constant bitrate, if it's already in this format then no idea.

I got the following error message when calling the "Graphics.play_movie

("Movies/Intro.avi", false, false)"

 

"SyntaxError occured while running script"

 

My video is 1024x567. I'm using RMXP and I'm using the resolution script that changes it to 1024x576

 

Do you have any ideas?
